But I still appreciate his talent, so what about it?

Notice the sidenote in my opening post about separating Anti-Floyd trolls, haters which I don't consider myself. Just not a fan. In fact, I spend more time on here posting in Hopkins/Wlad Klitschko threads than about Floyd.

Boxing is the only sport in which fans GO TOO FAR...

I respect the skills but that is all, I don't give a **** about the other stuff nor do I pay much attention to it, I don't get into back and forth with KIDS who only been watching boxing since the Rise of Pacquiao and Mayweather, that is maturity. Who you root for has NOTHING to do with Maturity.

Talking boxing without being Biased= SIGN OF MATURITY! It is only a very few on this forum that can discuss boxing without any Bias. But majority or like MALE GROUPIES to a certain fighter and it can get pretty disgusting.

No, people appreciate his skills and want to see him make history (by finishing his career as an undefeated fighter).

Some are not even willing to admit they're biased and just as rabid as the extreme elements of Mayweather's fanbase. You look at their posting history and you'll see that they love Showtime, Schaefer, Haymon... anything and anyone even remotely associated with Floyd. They'll defend them at all costs. All because of their love for Floyd da best. (They love Ariza now, just an example.) LOL. They also hate HBO, TR, GGG... You'll never see anything like it in any other sport.

It almost seems that in the circa 2012-2014 time period, there seems to be a lack of independent thought. Too much group think and bandwagon jumping, courtesy of sharing of opinions through social media. This sips over in other areas as well (Politics), where you can't distinguish the opinion of one person from the other. They all get it from the same outlet.

Prior to the rise of facebook, twitter, smartphones --- there used to be bit more independent thinking.

More like a sign of you not being able to contain your emotions, thus why he "lost" you as a fan. I put quotations around lost because let's be honest, you still pay to watch his content so you're still a fan of his and you're supporting him financially. It's funny how people claim to be turned off by his out of the ring antics, but don't give a hoot when it's another boxer in question. I mean shouldn't you abide by a set of standards that goes for all fighters? Why do you only get emotional when it comes to Broner and Floyd and guys like them?

I also don't understand why you thought it was needed to bring up "Afrocentrism", because I know quite a few Floyd fans who don't happen to be black. Looks like you're just projecting stemming from your ignorant views.

I hardly read a post defending his bad behavior day and day out as if he is their God. Maybe you have Pacfarts in your mind.
I should know who I was a huge fan of. This is like you telling me that I hate steak when I enjoy it at least once a week. I followed his journey through the Olympics right up to the Oscar fight and was a huge fan, yes, huge fan. You do know that there is a long time period between the Olympics and his fight with Oscar, right? 9 years to be exact. And yes, I was depressed when he didn't win the gold and I was impressed when he fought Corrales and loved watching him tear through Manfreddy and others. I was as much a fan of him as I was of Jones and a very select few fighters fit what I call being a huge fan of and he was one of the few. But he changed and my opinion of him changed. Simple as that. For some reason you cant fathom that fans can become fans of fighters they did not like to begin with or stop being fans of fighters they were big fans of. And yes, I have read countless posts from people defending his bad behavior. Years of it to be exact. So you telling me that I was not a huge fan of Floyd is like you telling LarryXXX that he hates Floyd or you telling BrushMyHair that he hates Broner. And that's laughable.

If you do a background check on my circa 2007-2008 posting days, you will notice me to be a Floyd fan. A nuthugger if you will. I was in my early 20's, heck I even listened to Hardcore Rap. My grammar also wasn't up to snuff. But things have changed. You know - as you get older you get wiser, get a better job, your politics change slightly as well. And so on and so forth.

But what about the new generation of Floyd fans? Are they just a bunch of degenerates stuck on being permanently ****** or what? A bunch of E-criminals and E-thugs with a slight touch of Afrocentrism. Do we blame the rise of Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram as well as smarthphones) for this dumbification? We probably have 40 year old Floyd fans on here who cannot be distinguished from the 20 year old ones.

What sociopolitical factors are there to consider?

                      Discuss.
I've been a Floyd fan since the 96 Olympics. What he does outside the ring doesn't affect me being a fan of his boxing. Outside activity hasn't usually made people stop liking boxers they are fans of so I don't think it would be different with Floyd.

It seems most people tend to generalize Floyd fans as a specific race, income, education level etc etc, which is far from reality. Most of his fans don't like his antics, but again its no reason not to stop being a fan.

Mature fans know you never truly know what type of person a fighter is. You accept they have faults-even deviant , criminal behavior you would never do yourself or wouldn't want your kids to do- and keep it in proper perspective.
