That's what' idiots do. You have a guy whose a small JMW moving up to fight a guy who walks around at 180lbs. The name of the game is prize fighting, he would still have his legacy intact if he fought Canelo. Which one do you think he'll receive more credit for, beating an old and injury proned Martinez or beating a young lion in Canelo?

canelo is a hype job that hasn't accomplished very much at all in the sport of boxing...he needs to prove himself by beating some legit competition...

Better fight, better event and Cotto is the A-side and gets the lion share. He fights in front of his fans and doesn't have to worry about BS judges that have been present in Canelo's last 2 fights. None of us know if Schaefer was talking out of his ass or whether Arum is talking out of his. Regardless, the amount Cotto will earn will be similar.

This was a no brainer, IMO. I think he just used GBP and Canelo to have negotiating power but never had any intentions on taking that fight.

Like Canelo said, the fight can still happen down the line no matter the outcome of the Martinez fight.

Cotto will give both of these guy's an exciting fight. I feel he fairs better against Canelo tho. An active Cotto can give Canelo a real hard time.

Arum is playing mind games again. I noticed that Arum didn't say that he was willing to guarantee Cotto more than the $10 million guarantee offered by GBP. He said that the combination of ticket sales, PPV revenue and other revenue sources would generate more revenue than GBP offered to Cotto. In other words, he is only going to offer Cotto a $4 million guarantee, but expects Cotto to make more than $10 million after all the PPV receipts come in. If he fought Alvarez, Cotto would get a guaranteed $10 million and would likely make $15 to $20 million with the PPV proceeds. Arum if full of sh..t!!

Alvarez couldn't knock out old Shane Mosley. He definitely won't KO Cotto. However, there is a possibility that Cotto will KO Alvarez when they eventually meet.

Martinez will be lucky to win a points decision against Cotto. If he fights Cotto like he fought his last opponent, Cotto will KO him.
