This is the reason Wlad should fight Holyfield, Mercer and Toney, to satisfy these guy who want HOF names on their records. That's what most of the older guys did after all, just picked off the previous champs when they were washed up. Marcianno's best wins were against 40 year old middleweights, but if he dropped his pants in this thread you guys would blow him. In 50 years the uneducated new fans will look back and see "wow, Wlad KO'd Holyfield in round 1, what a legend," just like supporters of Marcianno and other names do.

if ali-frazier or bowe-holyfield were brothers and never fought their legacy would be diminished....

Better way to explain it is if vitali had stayed retired, wlad would have beaten all the guys that vitali has since his return, but there is no money is arreola vs wlad cuz vitali already beat him down, haye vs vitali wont be as huge because wlad already beat him down, etc
it does hurt their legacies alittle because they will never fight, they have been splitting the divsion between the 2. And between the 2 of them they have destroyed everyone, stiverne and povetkin are next....

Wasn't alive back then, so can't give you, but i do know it was tougher to get noticed if you werent with the mob..

Even the great SRR never fought any of the black murder's row guys.. Saw a documentry on it and it explained that if you were a draw like marciano or SRR you would get protected from lesser known but very good fighters...

Not trying to say Marciano is a bum but the 50's were loaded with great fighters and boxing was still a main stream sport and you are telling me the only legit guys were faded 40 year old guys..In the entire world!!
Come on man, any boxing historian like bert sugar could have probably named off like 20 guys that were deserving but didnt get a chance cuz they didnt have the right connections..
