I hate to say this, because there are so many people who love Toney here(I admire him, too, but I'm realistic about him as a HW). But Toney will never face Wlad.

Toney had a chance to face Vitali- they offered him a title shot and a 60/40 split almost immediately after the Ruiz fight, and Goosen/Toney turned it down. Toney was never serious about facing Vitali, he just used his name for publicity, I feel (such as calling him out on the BDSSP). It's no coincidence that as soon as Vitali retires, then Toney is fighting for the WBC belt, and will surely make less money than he would have facing Vitali last Sept.

Toney is a smart guy, and is picking and choosing his fights at HW very well, with guys he knows he can beat and not taking too much risk. That's why he's been focusing on making a fight with Byrd. He wants a HW belt. But he's not going to face Wlad. It's THE WORST matchup for him at HW imaginable, and he will NEVER take it. Take that to the bank, fellas. He may talk about it, he may say he wants him, but he will never step in the ring with him. That's an absolute guarantee.

Look for Toney to bend all his efforts towards a Chris Byrd matchup, if Byrd is as successful at dodging Wlad in 06 as he was in 05, and probably retiring if he beats Byrd for the IBF to go with his WBC. Wlad is a non-issue. Toney is just never going to fight him. Time to accept that as pure fact, people.

Brewster did not KO Wlad , Wlad ran out of gas , as I remember it Wlad was ****ing Brewster up , almost KOing Brewster,
As for the Sanders fight , a part time heavyweight thats 6`4 240 , hits ****ing hard and is a lot faster then some one like Toney !
And for the dude that said Guinn has a chance at beating Wlad , go watch the Monte fight of both Guinn and Wlad !
Monte hurt Guinn really bad late in that fight , Wlad would splatter Guinn within 3rds!

Are you joking? Byrd is one of the most skilled heavyweights in years. Byrd is not the sort of opponent Toney will want to face, Toney likes guys who come to him, not fleet footed, hit and move, skilled boxers like Byrd. I know Byrd has faded a bit, but he still has enough to give Toney big problems.

And so? Tos and Golota are still talented boxers. he still won the fights anyway. styles make fights. he can't ged rid of those guys because he's not got much power. if Byrd had power he would have been one of the greatest boxers ever.

uhh, no he would not have.

byrd is not nearly as fast or as skilled as you say. saying that he won those fights against golota and TOS is just a pathetic attempt to support byrd. that TOS fight was too damn boring to score and golota was robbed in his fight with byrd (BTW, it was a DRAW). and byrd couldnt even prove he beat mccline, he had to rely on king to fix the fight and bribe the judges just like every other don king fighter.

face it, byrd would not even be ever mentioned today if it wasnt for his don king fixed fights.

I seem to remember i guy called Muhammad Ali having some extremely close fights, and perhaps being fortunate to win some of them. Chris Byrd is the modern day version of Jimmy Young in the heavyweight division, the guy goes up against guys who outweigh him by huge amounts, which is an achievment in itself.

Having a draw with Golota, and close wins against McCline, TOS and Oquendo, dosn't take anything away from him IMO. The only guys who have truely beaten Byrd are Wlad and Ike, and Ike knocked him senseless.

yeah, wlad and ike, 2 of the 3 really quality contenders that byrd has ever fought (vitali being the 3rd one).

                    oquendo is a bum.
                    mccline is a bum.
                    TOS is a bum.
                    golota is a punching bag.

and the fact that byrd can hardly beat them (he couldnt even beat the punching bag golota) shouldnt merit him any respect. if you can hardly beat bums and dont fight any real contenders, you dont deserve respect or a belt.

once again, your hyping up byrd by saying "he faces guys so much bigger than him" so what? and trying to say hes being brave by doing that is insulting to the actually brave fighters. would you ever dare to say that byrd is just as brave or nearly or more brave than corrales, castillo, gatti, hatton, morales, barerra, or pacquiao?

you wanna praise some blown up fighter fighting heavies? praise james toney, the fighter with REAL skill who takes and give REAL fights.
