I guess you don't see the contradiction. You said that fighting Pirog will not be high reward .... so you are saying that it will not help Martinez legacy wise.

      why?

So it will be an excuse for people to say that Martinez is old next year but you think he is already. Cool story!

Presently, neither are too old .... but there will be a point where this fight will not mean much.
      Sorry for you confusing yourself

It can happen when someone like Turbo talks from both sides of his mouth!

"oh, you are ready to use Martinez is old, as an excuse"

        "oh, Martinez is already old."

For most, that is confusing and unexpected statement.

I've said Martinez is old all along. you're the one building it in as an excuse.

I did not vote because I don't agree with any of those options.Floyd is a welterweight and if he beats Cotto he has every right to vacate the 154lb. tittle and return to 147. If he keeps the 154lb tittle then he should fight the best at that weight. He will probably want a fight about February 2113. He will be turning 36 years old so he will be past prime.I think Canello will have KO wins over Mosley and Kirkland by then and Martinez will be middleweight champ.Canello would be a much bigger money fight than Martinez and he has the same promoter as Floyd. If Floyd does not fight Canello then I think he is ducking Canello. If he beats Canello then fight Martinez at 154. I make Floyd a slight underdog in either fight and I think the 22 year old Canello as a bigger threat than the 37 year old Martinez. If Canello has a poor performance against Kirkland or Mosley that would change things of course.

Due you have a straight face when you type comments like the one above?

Turbo says Martinez is already old .... must be true

ADP02 says, Floyd better not wait until Martinez turns old .... oh that is just an excuse.

              Crazy logic!

Why is Martinez ducking Ward and Dirrell? It's not like he's afraid to fight guys who walk around at '90 right?

Manny has peaked so therefore he can't fight at that weight but Floyd, a WELTERWEIGHT also, can? they are both Welterweights here, everybody is disregarding the risk Floyd is already taking by fighting Cotto at a full 154, you don't think that is "great problems" for Floyd too? his fight against Oscar De La Hoya was a SD, not exactly a walk in the park at 154 now is it, maybe that's why he hasn't returned except for this Cotto fight.

I hate the notion of ANYTHING being too hard for Manny but not too hard for Floyd yet Manny is fighter of the decade and not Floyd? it's nothing to pile up the tough tasks on Floyd but it's painful for people to give him respect? Manny was tall for those low weights that's why he grew so well into his Welterweight frame, same as Mayweather whom has grown well into 147.

all Floyd got is longer arms and MAYBE a inch or two in height but there ain't much difference in their sizes, you only say what you say because you see Floyd doesn't encounter much troubles in the ring when he fights, he pulls threw and makes it out unscathed due to his skills and style. truth is it's equally tough on BOTH Floyd and Manny at this point to put on weight and do extraordinary things like that in this point in their career but that's true for BOTH not just Manny
Nope. I say what I say because I believe Mayweather carries the weight better on his frame. I believe Mayweather has a better chance of moving up and being effective than Pacquiao. DOes that make me biased? You're making some serious assumptions about my post. All I'm saying is that Floyd has a reasonable chance to cement the position of best pound for pound, besting manny by doing something that pacquiao is not likely to do because of his limiting size.

Look, some boxers carry weight better than others and be effective still. All I'm saying is that Floyd can where Manny can't. This is a good thing for Floyd as it can lead to a win in more weight classes, making him more of a pound for pound candidate. It's all based on public opinion anyway.

Would I like to see manny try it against martinez? Sure, why not, but I wouldn't put money on him winning that one. Is there a threat of loss for Floyd in that matchup? Yes, there is. But since nobody on these boards represents any of the three mentioned camps, we really shouldn't take it personally.

But if you choose too...i can't help but to think you feel for floyd in a discussion like this, so I will throw you a bone. I think there are more legit challenges for Floyd due to him being able (in my opinion) to move up and be effective, than Pacquiao. Do with that what you will. I mean no harm.

Pacquiao's camp acknowledged that they would not be doing that heavy of a weight again.

They realized it was too much for him.

Again, I say this is good for Floyd, as he can, if he chooses to of course, capitalize on Pacquiao not wanting to move up again. If floyd does, and wins, even on a split decision, he can undoubtedly lay claim to best pound for pound.

This....would be a good thing, right?
