I was a boxing fan at that time and what I remember about Margarito was that he lost to a nobody named Daniel Santos (albeit a technical decision, but still a loss), he was getting his ass whipped by Joshua Clottey until Clottey injured his shoulder and he got ass beat by Paul Williams after his team delayed/rescheduled the Williams fight twice in an attempt to avoid Williams altogether. Margarito deserved a shot at Mayweather back then about as much as Robert Guererro does now.

Well, I've seen a few Mayweather interviews during that time.

One where Margarito personally called him out and another interview was in an article where mayweather said he would fight Margarito and Margarito would be easy work.

Again I'm going off memory but I think the time when Margarito saw Mayweather in person that was after the Judah fight? Not too sure.

The one I'm talking about with Margarito was just an interview with him, one on one. Where he talks about having a great desire to fight Mayweather, he really wanted the fight even back then (before the Judah fight) and talks about how it was offered the Floyd and he chose Judah (and the rest is in the other post)

Mayweather did address Margarito at times in the articles I think you're talking about. I'm sure he had absolute confidence he could beat him. This is Mayweather were talking about He's not shy of confidence.

Ummm, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but Cotto of late 2007 early 2008 was a beast. Shane Mosley was the only fighter to finish the fight coming forward against Cotto; which was a HUGE accomplishment at the time.

I'm sure you'll say "But Cotto was hurt by Zab Judah, Demarcus Corely, and Shane Mosley". But guess what? So was Mayweather.

Don't wait until after Cotto gets beat by plaster man and a man that's refused PED testing for 2 years to act like he wasn't a force to be reckoned with at the time.

To those who say "But Cotto never beat anyone" then begin discreditiing all his opponents. No just no; if you followed the sport "at the time", you'll know why.

Lol Since when did it become so shameful to barely beat Mosley?

You act like he was suppose to knock Mosley out as if Mosley was always getting KO'd or something.

At the time, Mosley was on a multi-fight win streak. Not coming off the poor performances like when he fought Pac.

Mosley only lost to two other men (Wright and Forrest). No shame there.

Now here we are in 2012 and Mosley obviously isn't who he once was and now all of a sudden it's so shameful to barely beat Mosley in 2007.

If boxingscene was around in the early 80's, you would be chewwing George Foreman and Joe Frazier out because they lost to Ali who lost to Spinks.
