You don't remember when Roach said that? Also the people bashing the fight don't outweigh the ones attempting to justify it.... which are the very same people who bashed Mayweather for fighting a LW in the WW division.

Here are the comparative stats between Floyd/DLH and Pac/DLH:

Floyd/DLH = 12 rds.
DLH : 122 landed/587 thrown = 10 landed out of 50/rd.
Floyd : 207 landed/481 thrown = 17 landed out of 40/rd.

Pac/DLH = 8 rds.
DLH : 83 landed/402 thrown = 10 landed out of 50/rd. (in the first 5 rds., DLH threw an average of 60/rd.. It went down to 34/rd. from rd.6 to 8)
Pac : 224 landed/587 thrown = 28 landed out of 73/rd.

Pac had an average of 28 landed/rd., Floyd did 17/rd. DLH maintained his average of 10 landed/rd for both fights. These figures do not support the idea that Floyd's counter punching ability was a major factor in the fight. In fact, the numbers indicate that he was landing significantly less per round compared to Pac.
Floyds power punches were more embarrassing. In 12 rounds, Floyd landed a total of 138, or 11.5/rd.. Pac landed 195 in 8 rounds, or 24.4/rd..

When a boxer is getting hit with fewer and less damaging punches per round, it follows that he will be more confident to engage rather than cower in retreat. This could explain why DLH performed the way he did against Floyd, where he even slightly increased his work rate in the later rounds. Whereas with Pac, DLH had an unusually high work rate in the first 5 rounds (60 punches/rd.), only to dramatically dropped to 33.6/rd. in the last 3 rds..

To be fair, there are two ways to interpret those figures(DLH's performance against Pac).
First, DLH might have initially tried to impose himself on Pac, thinking that with his vaunted power together with an increased work rate, he could catch Pac early and win the fight. However, he might have over extended himself and run out of steam in the later rounds. That could explain why he practically stopped punching.
Or, he realized that Pac was too elusive for him to catch and after five rounds of getting pummeled, his confidence collapsed, resulting to the most humiliating defeat in his career.

Weight is always a huge part in Roach's game. Doesn't anyone remember that early on Roach even wanted the Mayweather fight to be at a CW?

144 was selected for a reason. Team Pac should thank Mayweather for doing it first. Funny thing is, Floyd gets bashed but now people want to flip the script and say its ok for Pac to fight a LW... Some ******s say that JMM will be scientifically better this time... lol wtf?

Its even funnier to hear people say that Pac/JMM are the same size but then stumble and fall when asked why cant the fight be at 135 or 140.... especially since its so hard for Pac to maintain weight.. or is Pac not playing the "smaller fighter" role for this fight? lol

I replyed assuming you where talking about Pac and JMM III and the weight "agreed" on. I didnt think you would attempt to say Floyd only beat JMM because of "weight"...

Why would you assume that? Especially since I nor the post I was replying to mentioned Pac-JMM III and "weight agreed".

And, me thinking weight played a huge part in Floyd-JMM. Doesn't mean that Floyd only beat JMM because of the weight. How did you put this together, I have no idea.

Are you saying the WW divsion was a huge factor for Floyd winning or are you saying the few extra pounds that Floyd came in over the agreed upon weight was a huge factor on Floyd winning?

Sure we can say that Floyd would have beaten JMM at 130 or 135 or at any weight. And, I would agree with that.

But, he didn't. He fought and beat him at WW. And, IMO the weight played a huge factor. JMM limit is LW, he's not a WW. Floyd is a WW now. Legit WW now. He has grown into the division. Floyd not making the 144 catch-weight. Took away any chance or any advantage, even if the tiny bit that it could have been, away of JMM of winning.

I was making sure I didn't misunderstand what you had said. Also, I thought the conversation WAS about Floyd, Pac and JMM and the similarities of the fights being at 144.

I was also just stating how Pac finally decided to fight a current Champion yet its in a division the Champion has never won a fight at or even looked good in.
