Originally posted by LAFIRPO View PostHey, you should read my previous post. I've clearly stated that Manny is not required to go up to 154, much less 160. Manny has moved up in weight like no other fighter in history.
However, if you were Martinez, and you knew you could make somewhere in between 5 to 10 million to fight Manny, would you call him out?
You can't criticize Manny for not wanting to move up to 154, and you can't criticize Sergio for wanting a huge payday.
Sorry, mate. Probably mixed you up with other posters.
To be honest, I'm all for a Pac-Martinez fight at a catchweight of 150 lbs. I believe that win or lose, it would definitely cap Pac's amazing legacy of fighting bigger opponents. If he somehow wins, then he strengthens his ATG resume. If he loses, even by KO, there is no shame in that.
I just have a beef with people like Dibella who somehow makes it appear that Pac not willing to face Sergio at 154 is a sign of ducking. If Sergio has to lose an arm or a leg to go below 154, the surely Pac needs to add an arm or a leg to go up to 154.
Sergio has the right to go after big paydays, but he also needs to be willing to give something up in order to get it. If they can't meet at 150, then I don't think the fight is gonna happen.

Ali Funeka is a giant at lightweight, should we ban him from lightweight because he's taller than the other guys.

As I said Cotto vs Mayorga and Pac vs Mosley are every bit a disgrace and a joke but those fights have actually happened or are going to happen.

props to martinez. but he has got to stop calling out these smaller guys. and start focusing on 160s-168s, think cotto would be a good fight for him. but atleast fight him at 154. why does he insist on these jr mw and ww moving up to fight him?

But I don't agree with Manny needing to fight Sergio for his legacy. Manny is not superhuman and this is a dangerous sport. I don't think anyone with a right mind would criticize Manny for not wanting to move up to 154 and fight Sergio.
I don't think a lot people can appreciate what Manny has done. In over 100 years of the sport no one has come close to moving up in weight like Manny.
I think its unfair for people to ask Manny to move up EVEN more and fight a beast like Martinez.
