I think what some people are forgetting is that Mayweather will probably make $40M+ by fighting Williams or Martinez just like with Mosley because the PPV sales will probably be around the same as with Mosley and Mayweather will likely be able to demanda big enough purse split with either to make than he would fighting Pac at 50/50. So since he's the bigger draw, it really makes no sense for him to settle for 50/50 when he could make more money with others getting a fairer deal. Pac likely would also have to turn to Williams or Martinez for a payday of that magnitude. Problem is, Pac isn't naturally as big as Mayweather so fighting Willaims and Martinez probably isn't something Arum and Roach will want Pac doing. So basically, Pac needs Mayweather at this point more than Mayweather needs Pac. Pacquaio fighting Margarito might not be a bad thing. Because personally, I think Pacquaio-Margarito would do a million PPV buys easily. Then, Pac would be able to come back as more of an equal with Mayweather instead of the obvious B side of the promotion.
I don't think the general population buys that. Especially not billed as "Manny's last fight." But it is a good "stay-busy" bout and one that will do "stay busy" numbers. Not bad at all for Manny.

Margarito-Pacquiao will do great at the gate, especially in Texas. But you can expect average or less pay-per-views than what he did with Clottey. Yes, I know Tony has a bigger name. But its one disgraced and the media is not going to be jumping at the hype of Dallas Stadium but they will make mention of why Margarito hasn't fought in the USA since forever. Where he was last seen getting obliterated by Mosley.

Its convenient for Pacs people to say do'nt look at their results for the Clottey fight, look at our results for the Cotto fight. Examine that. Consider each fighter's last four fights. Pac did 700,000 against Clottey. He did 1,250,000 against Cotto. Against Hatton Pac did 850,000. Against Oscar Pac did 1,250,000. That's a combined 4,050,000. May did 1,400,000 against Mosley. Against Marquez he did 1,000,000. Against Hatton he did 915,000 domestic (over 2,000,000 world wide). Against Oscar he did 2,400,000. That's a combined 5,715,000. Pick the last 2, May did better. Pick the first two, May did better. Pick the middle two, guess what, May did better PPV numbers. He is the bigger draw, PERIOD! Why should he not expect a larger share?
