One last win might tempt him but what's the point really? If he fights a soft touch we already know he's going to win, and if he takes on a threat he might lose or get hurt.
Personally, I'd have retired a long time ago. Once I got 10 or 20 million in the bank I couldn't see the point in
getting punched in the face.Last edited by StephenM; 01-14-2025, 12:32 PM.billeau2 likes this.

Fury, like most fighters, has little self awareness about the issue of retirement. I feel for him because he really did leave it in the ring against Wilder... But at a great cost. Too many wars... And as you hit forty? extra weight kills you.
Unless he slimmed down totally, used his boxing skills and movement, and made a case (in the ring) that he is not shot, He is deluding himself. And I say this as someone who does not think he could do the above... Meaning he is becoming target practice.4truth likes this.

You are right he does need something to focus on but I think instead of chasing money (which he has more than enough of) it should be on helping people, something that will give him good energy.

Wow, sure did gloss over that PED suspension, which should always be a huge taint on Fury’s career and keep him a notch below Joshua..
Also glossing over:
*The two long counts against Wilder in fights 1 and 3.
* The bizarre continuation of the Fury-Wallin fight when Fury had a horrible cut over his eye.
* The bizarre refusal of the referee to wave off the fight during Round 9 of the first Usyk fight.
* The gift decision over Ngannou.
Anyway…the bottom line is Fury will be back. I have a feeling he’s not the sole master over his career and those who also control it would rather not leave the large slice of money that at least one Joshua will bring lying unclaimed on the table.Last edited by Roj; 01-14-2025, 03:18 PM.

I know Fury has retired and un-retired a few times already, but I feel this time around he could stay true to his word and stay retired for good.
What is different this time around? Two things. One is he has made a ton of money in his last two fights, enough to last him and his family a few lifetimes. That was always his motivating factor, what he was always chasing. Now he has it. The second thing is, in both Usyk fights he could not pull the trigger in the second part of the fight and no matter what he says publicly, no matter how much he protests his losses. In his heart of hearts he knows that he had nothing left after round five or six in the second fight. He knows his body can no lomger deliver at the highest level. His retirement announcement did not seem like a spur of the moment emotional tantrum. It was short, sweet and to the point. I hope he stays retired.
