The issue is that Shakur Stevenson is the type of fighter who can make other fighters look very ordinary but doesn't do big numbers while not even engaging in a (casual) fan-friendly battle, i.e the definition of high-risk/low-reward.

This guy was stuck in one gear the whole fight. I ma stop him, I ma stop him, well I actually believed it and I was waiting for it. U gotta go for it at some point especially if you already soften the guy up. Even an old Loma who isn't a puncher went for it against a game Kambosos. When your home fans are exiting by Round 7, there is a problem. Good win but it obviously doesn't change anything. At this point, he is what he is.

I am sure nothing in this performance "scares" any of the top guys. But I am wondering if there will be enough interest from casual combat sports fans to make Stevenson worth the money to make these fights happen. He really needs some fun fights. Considering how "blah" the entertainment value was for the De La Santos and this fight were, in my humble, unimportant opinion the public will not be overly excited for a unification with anyone.

I'm not completely shitting on Stevenson's performance tonight. He won wide.

But I'm going to repeat what I said in the fight thread.

You call this a "masterclass", but you got to look at the level of opponent.

Sorry, but you can't be one of the "faces" of the sport if you can't put on a show against somebody that gave Frank Martin "problems".

He didn’t run because he was fighting someone with no power. That’s why Artem was chosen, same reason Teo fought Claggett. They were both given fights to look good in and both failed miserably
