It shouldn't matter to Benavidez what Canelo is getting paid, if he happily accepted his own purse. The two pertinent details that should matter to Benavidez: his name wasn't on the original agreement, and Sampson doesn't want him to go to DAZN. That's where loyalty comes into play....will Benavidez make the necessary sacrifices to get Canelo, or will he allow his team to steer him down a path that's more beneficial to them? Does the team work for the boxer, or does the boxer work for his team?

This situation is reminiscent of Wilder/Joshua. PBC/DAZN, Finkle instead of Sampson. How did that situation end? The fight was over-marinated and got sent to hell. Wilder was steered down another path that led him to cherry-picking Fury...and we know what happens next. There are two major differences: PBC no longer has SHO as leverage, and Canelo has more power in the U.S. than Joshua. Wilder tried to A-Side Joshua, but Benavidez won't be able to pull that maneuver on Canelo.

Back to Benavidez/Morrell: I don't think that fight will happen until they move to LHW.

IDK how people dont see through Team Benavidez. Swore theyd fight Morrell if no Canelo, now theyre going to 175 to fight a b- level guy who will be 37 on fight night. And NOBODY can say "but but but hell be the mando for Bivol/Beterbiev winner". He KNOWS hes not getting that fight. Eddie Hearn has already said jed want Canelo/Benavidez on DAZN but PBC wouldnt let that happen so same thing applies to Bivol/Benavidez. Bob Arum barely ever lets his top fighters fight pbc guys and more importantly, Beterviev has already already said he wants to move up to cruiserweight. This is a BLATANT DUCK. If Benavidez fans are going go call out Canelo, fine

Fortunately, Morrell is learning English. What he ultimately needs is the activity, and I don't think he'll get it. Plant spoke about Jermall, Canelo, and Berlanga...does it sound like Morrell has a legit chance of getting him in the ring? Morrell/Mbilli would be fireworks. Disagree. Not that more activity would hurt him by any means, but he needs to get ppl invested in him. Morrell has MGM Grand, Riyadh Season talent but has 8k venue, $45 seats in the midwest drawing ability.

Social media enhances boxers ability to connect with fans on a daily basis which even the guy whos fighting 3x a year isn't gonna achieve without social media. This is a different era & engagement is huge in making guys bigger names. And the bigger your name is the more money you get & the bigger fights you get.

If Beterbiev wins, hes moving up. Hes said that multiple times. If Bivol wins, the fight wont happen because Eddie will want Bena to go to DAZN, which wont happen. This whole "becoming mandatory" thing is BS from Benavidez, he LITERALLY just ran to another division to avoid Morrell

Still don't get how Benavidez is ducking Morrell. A lot of times the excuse is "he hasn't fought anyone", but hot damn, Morrell literally never fought anyone. This kid has 10 fights. His best opponent was probably ranked... #30? #40? at the time of the fight (no, I'm not looking at WBA rankings, theyre trash). Can Morrell actually fight a halfway decent fighter before people label him as a monster?

Gvozdyk is a former world champion whose only loss is against Beterbiev, who's a top P4P fighter himself. Gvozdyk is ranked in the Top5 at LHW. Considering Benavidez would be moving up for that fight, Nail is 3 times more challenging fight than Morrell.

Benavidez is doing the right thing. If Beterbiev - Bivol winner vacates, moves up and fights Opetaia, Benavidez can fight for a vacant title.

Canelo took belts hostage at 168, there is no point staying around for Benavidez.

I get the TS logic but I don’t think it’s a Morrell duck. Benavidez needs to be fighting top tier guys and champions.
