I didn't say Shane is not a threat, of course he is. He just isn't the sure shot every doubter seems to think or hope. Shane has skills no doubt but I can see Mayweather beating via a UD.

You want a sure shot winner against Floyd...ask him to fight Paul Williams. I would put Williams as a favorite to beat Floyd via points.

Floyd stated that this comeback wasnt about money, but adding to his legacy. *****ing out of the fight everybody wants to see, especially now the stage is set up so nicely,at the very first opportunity is hardly legacy enhancing conduct, especially when you consider just how reviled he is the world over.

This will make him a laughing stock if he squirms out of this now.

That really is a legacy enhancing fight, and it wouldnt do his rep any harm even if he lost that one. The problem with that fight is that it would take courage to make it,and Floyd isnt exactly famous in the cojones department!

Well said, some fans here are more worried about Floyd making a good pay day than taking a legit match up. We will not know the outcome unless they fight and right now Shane is the #1 WW

oh for sure; Williams has huge physical advantages and would pose as Mayweather's greatest threat, never mind Shane...lets put it this way. If Mayweather retires without fighting a WW 'threat' then I'll be one of the first to claim he is ducking. I can live with a JMM tune up to get the cobwebs out. I can also accept a Pacman mega cash fight as most people want to see it....however if he retires without fighting a top WW (as reports are that he has at least 5 fights on contract), then we'll all see that its about keeping the 0 safe and cashing in.

BTW, to the previous poster, in the Corely fight Mayweather wasn't really fighting his fight, he was trying to show off some power in his 140 debut which obviously backfired on him a bit. He went in there trying to knock him out, that's not Floyd's game. As for Judah, the dude stepped on his foot and knocked him off balance...watch it again.

There are two ways to become the champ. Either by beating an existing champ, which he hasn't done, because the last lineal champ was Mayweather; or if the title is vacant, by the #1 and #2 contenders fighting each other, which has never happened since Mayweather "retired".

Not this time. It's very straight forward. Since Mayweather vacated the title by retiring, the #1 and #2 contenders have never fought each other. When Mosley beat Margarito, Cotto was ranked #2. When Margarito beat Cotto, Williams was ranked #2. The #1 and #2 contenders have never fought each other since the title became vacant. That's all there is to it. Facts are facts, no matter how much you might want to twist them.

No it wasn't. Cotto was ranked #2 at that time, not Mosley.
Is there a HW linear champ?

Shane only has losses on his record from guys Mayweather wouldn't fight. Shane is the Welterweight champion right now. It doesn't matter if Floyd couldn't get a fight with him years ago, the fight makes sense now. If Floyd takes a fight other than the Pacquiao/Cotto winner or Paul Williams (won't happen) before Shane, he's ducking SSM.

Could someone please explain HOW Mosley is the Linear Champ??????

                  HOW?????

THE LINEAR CHAMPION HAS ALL THE BELTS - IF HE DOESN'T HE'S NOT THE LINEAR CHAMPION ...... GET THE TERMINOLOGY CORRECT.

                  Spot On!!!!!

The WW Belt means nothing at all .... Mosley brings nothing to the table for negotiation. All he brings is his win over a over-hyped Margarito and that ain't worth ****.
By your terminology of what a linear champion is. We have no linear champion cuz nobody has all the belts. By your terminology Floyd has never been a linear champion in any of his weight-class. The right terminology to use for lineage. Is to beat the man, who beat the man, who beat the man.

Nowadays all this sanctioning bodies would strip fighters for no reason. So is damn near impossible.

                    GUY!!!! GUYS!!!!

Do some boxing history homework FIRST before making these kind of statements

Floyd couldn't fight the guys Mosley lost to because they were in a heavier weight division .....

No you saying that Shane is not the linear champion proves you nothing about boxing and the history of boxing.

Would you like for me to explain like if you're a lil kid on how Shane is the linear champion? Cuz I will? I will go step by step. I can go really slow so you could understand. Would you like that?
