Has been something I keep seeing lately. I saw it here and I see it on twitter. It's a weird thing to bring up and it seems to be brought up exclusively by Canelo fans. Isn't that like when people brought up Cotto's brother rocking Canelo? I really think there's a good amount of these guys rooting for Plant simply because they don't want to see him and Benavidez fight.

What's funny is that Benavidez didn't even lose that fight five years ago. At 21 years he battered Gavril in two fights and retired him, then went to beat down better opposition more convincingly such as a prime Anthony Dirrell, KO artist Roamer Alexis Angulo and an over the hill David Lemiux by stoppage.

being that said my point was that Benavidez is way more polished and capable compared to five years ago. Gavril knocking down a quite young David shouldn't be sufficient proof that Caleb Plant would beat him based on a performance against an old version of Dirrell.Mammoth likes this.

That is exactly what is happening. The craziest part it is is that most of those people rooting against Benavidez and hoping for him to lose are Mexican Americans....while over here in Mexico most Mexicans want to see that fight.El_Mero charliepaerker like this.

Yea I laugh at that too.
first off David was 20 yrs old when he whoopd Gavril not once but twice and pretty much ended his career that 2nf fight was a brutal beatdown by David.
2nd that was one of the weakes so called KDs ever David was clearly off balance and touched by a jab so he lost his footing but whatever haters will use anything.El_Mero likes this.

I mean I'm not particularly a Benavidez fan but there's shades of desperation in reaching back to a KD in a fight he won when he was stil what... 20 or 21 years old? KId's big and dangerous, deceptively quick - even though he looks kinda gangly - and carries real power... rather looking forward to this fight.Mammoth likes this.
