Have to agree that with this, with Bivol although unfortunate, it isn't a duck considering he is taking on another accomplished hard hitting fighter that he is 1-1 with. Though I would prefer Benavidez vs Bivol, at least it does not mean it's not going to happen in the future.
Canelo doesn't...

De Los Santos still wants the fight though, he stated that he is getting lowballed with 225k for a title fight instead of the 400k stated and that his team is still in talks. He however has a legitimate reason for being inactive for a year and a half. He is also at a considerable disadvantage.

Edwin De Los Santos had a life-threatening medical condition involving blood clots and injured hand, reason why he has been 18 months inactive.
Don't think it be right if Santos jumped to a title shot at 135 right now. Perhaps someone like Artem Harutyunyan to see where he is at the moment...

Considering he doesn't get a mandatory until 6 months later, think the most likely opponent for Benavidez is Callum Smith even if he is not ranked under WBC rankings. At least based on what he said on a recent interview.
There is also Albert Ramirez who is top 3 and has a nice streak going...Last edited by Malvado; 04-07-2025, 11:06 PM.drewski likes this.

Pretty neat, interesting that great fighters like Carlos Zarate, Marco Antonio Barrera, De La Hoya, Chavez Sr and Roberto Duran attended this event in CDMX.
I think the country needs to invest in the sport more and make some changes.

I understand that he is pretty young, and is improving while filling the defensive gaps. Might premature to compare him to the fighters I mentioned.
But his start is quite similar to them, the majority is outstanded by his ability (handspeed and punching power) along with skills, he has...Last edited by Malvado; 04-05-2025, 07:15 PM.

Well yeah it's a opinion and Mason could easily prove me wrong.
Think he has the ability to immediately take out top contenders and could take a belt. But I also think any puncher has a chance against him and he likely to rapidly decline in his late 20s....

By the way, I noticed that there is a lot of Middleweight contenders in Australia, why doesn't Tszyu try to fight them at 160?

Think that at the rate Mason's career is going, it will be quite entertaining as long as it lasts but short, pretty athletically gifted fighter with a lot of power.
But he does to have vulnerable chin along with having some defensive gaps due to his lack of experience or perhaps his trainer...Last edited by Malvado; 04-05-2025, 02:26 AM.
