Interesting that a few people believe Gavril won the first Benavidez fight, I thought Benavidez clearly won 8-4/7-5 and looking at the overall fan scorecard on Boxrec and Eye of the Ring most felt the same.

Now I want to watch the fight again to see if I changed my mind.

I’m with you on that. I didn’t think it was even that close going into the 12. Even with the 10-8 12th I thought the decision was a forgone conclusion.

The WBC ordered a marketable Mexican rising star to rematch a relatively unknown Romanian fringe contender. That alone tells you this fight was at least controversial.

I don't hold it against any 20 year old for getting rocked. I doubt their chin reaches its peak at that age

Gavril not only dropped Benividez but arguably beat him.

He wrote the wrong in the rematch and he definitely deserves credit for that because he didn’t have to.

And I agree he has improved since then and that can be chalked down as a learning fight,

But it still is illogical to act like that fight doesn’t exist.
Of course the fight took place, I didn't watched it, that's why I don’t have and opinion on who really won the fight. My opinion is that the fight doesn't have any bearing on the one coming up. Not comparing canelo vs cotto to benavidez vs gavril, I mentioned because someone else did, and canelo has never been rocked like that again, so he did learned something from that fight, even though he won almost every minute of the contest.

Its not even their chin, its they made a mistake, or let their guard down in the moment and got a surprise they weren't ready for, that's why you can catch anybody in sparing at any given time, and its also why under the lights when the preparation and focus is in the zone its a totally different place.

Ramirez did better than Canelo did against Bivol though. Bivol’s clearly the best at the weight IMO so no shame there.

I hope Charlo moves up to 160 I think he’d be a real player there. His bigger brother can kick rocks for all I care. He don’t care about the sport or his legacy.

I was talking about Robeisy Ramirez, he loss his first and has improved tremendously. We're discussing young fighters that has a rough outing, and after that they became much better.
