Nice chess move if Bud can somehow get the Charlo-Castano winner for undisputed. This would back Spence into a corner should he win since Spence is certain to outgrow 147 sooner than later…I’ve always thought the plan was for Spence to transition to 154 as Mel went to 160 and Mal to 168

Fact: Ray Leonard was 25 and Thomas Hearns was 22 during their first fight. Bud Crawford is 34 and Errol Spence is 31. IF the fight happens at all, it’ll be 5-10 years too late.

FOX has been a disappointment, but Showtime has been outstanding! No one is doing it better than PBC, even if there are still fights we want to see! Saturday night's card is an example of that! Too bad Gutierrez will not be in the ring as scheduled! However, Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Viktor Postol more than makes up for that! Then comes March 9th!

I’m talking about fans in general, not just the fans on this small forum. This ideology has spread well beyond this forum. Its brought up in interviews, social media, YouTube & even other fighters now openly saying & using it as an excuse. Hence, the narrative has been given power.

my point was that fans need to stop contributing to the perpetuation of false narratives. Instead of being cheerleaders & supporting bs excuses for why fights can’t happen, collectively we should all be questioning why they can’t happen, on every platform.
I think we do. Acknowledging the current business environment in an honest way doesn’t mean you support the reasons.

The narrative has power because once HBO fired Haymon and aligned themselves with just TR and GBP, what did you expect Haymon to do? Get out of the business and fold?

Haymon got isolated he did his own thing. Now posters seem to want to forget how all this began and just want Haymon to go back to how things were. Yet when Bob controls a division, like LW, he’s never asked to cede his power or control.

Do you honestly think that can happen? If you were Haymon, would you do that?

Crawford knows and real fans know that he is the better fighter and deserves the shot. Its always an issue of pricing out when a non PCB fighter is the best fight,, if you and another man of equal ablilities where to risk your health, careers and even your lives wouldn't you request a 50-50 or 60-40 deal anything else would be an insult after your hard work and dedication, it's not about the fighters ducking or not making the fights its the promoters, sanctioning bodies, ect. doing business as usual. When the sport became more a popularity sport instead of the sweet science we lost the science and reality of getting the fights that should really happen like we had in the 70s and 80s when 90% of fans were true fans that would pay to see these fights. What I see now are casuals paying for fights just to make an event, party or bets of popularity or every other reason except for the true competive nature of the sport. Bottom line is the fighters have little say in these decisions, these guys know little or nothing about business they eat, sleep and breathe boxing by necessity anything less would make them less as would any other ventures thats why they trust other people (sometimes at their demise) to take care of investments and money. Some get the right advice and help like Floyd, Pac, Oscar but most do not

I und what you're saying, but were someone to say it's no worse now than it was before, is incorrect.

OK, lets assume Crawford wins. How long will it take him to beat Bob? How many months or years of the absolute prime of his boxing life will he lose? And if it's years, at the age of 33+ ....does he still win? I do not thinks this ends well for Crawford, his fans, or boxing as a whole. Hopefully mi wrong, certainly wouldn't be the first time.

Crawford for undisputed at 154 gets my PPV money all day...when guys want to fight more times than not the fight gets made...I'm blaming Arum's beef with Haymon for not getting this Spence fight...maybe free agent Bud sees the value in taking a little less to get Spence in the ring...he has a big night and that could pay dividends in future fights
