That’s why Canelo is his own boss. He’s bigger than being tied to one promotion or network.
I don’t think he fully trusts Haymon so if they do business it’s on a fight by fight deal.
He’s got options after Plant. Charlo at 168 would be a big Cinco de Drinko fight.
Or if Hearn and DAZN come correct with the money he can end GGG’s career with a spectacular knockout.

I always enjoy watching Saul perform but there are limits to fan devotion. There are usually predictions on Boxing Scene prior to a big fight. Take note there is no such column for this fiasco. Plants last five opponents were as follows and explains this omission. Thanks for nothing Haymon. This is a DAZN fight, not an 80 buck blockbuster. Easy work for Canelo against a guy who is being asked to climb a mountain with no power and only a decent jab to protect the beard he will eventually get shaved off early.

I think Benevediz would fight Alvarez on DAZN with Charlo 50/50. The belt is what Alvarez wanted and so, PBC it was. But if he beats Plant, all of the other opponents won't have any leverage for him to fight on a PBC platform.

If DAZN matches PBC offer, why would any other fighter without leverage play hardball and not fight him on DAZN.

Because DAZN still cannot offer what PBC/CBS (showtime) can. If they could then this fight would've been on DAZN. Al will show him that he can get the guaranteed 40 milly (maybe more depending how this fight goes) and plus more revenue to fight on his platform. DAZN now know they have a limit because the 'paid subscription' ... oops I mean you subscribers actually have to pay PPV for this fight, is not profitable. Al will force him to decide which platform ... and well you see which one his team just picked.

Sherdogs boxing sub forum is almost as active as this place for ****s sake. Lol @ those two sports existing in a bubble where one is for "blacks and browns" and one is for "**** suburban whites"

Thats odd considering two thirds of the UFCs current champs arent white and boxing has more high profile white champs and white fighters ranked in the p4p top 10 than MMA does right now. Pretty sure Canelo/Plant is a white dude vs a white dude too, or dont they count because one speaks Spanish and one acts black?

Anyway, the point is, yes there is plenty of crossover, so for them to bring in the biggest (and most expensive) name in boxing, spend something like $50m for the Plant fight, which is arguably the biggest boxing match of the year, then give it a ****ing trash undercard, put it on PPV and try to go head to head with one of the most stacked UFC cards of the year....is pretty ****ing dumb, and its likely to burn this fight a lot more than it burns the UFC.
You know what TMLT87, I just got in the house and I want to respond to this....but I am drunk as shyte right now haha. But create civilized debate I'll see you on the next one!!

They do not pay attention to boxing for the most part. I live, work and hang around blacks all day and I'm telling you boxing is virtually non existent in that community. I also live and work around El Salvadorian Americans and they barely pay attention either. There are not nearly as many X-over fans as you think. Most **** whites don't like boxing because they hate seeing non whites winning. Of course I'm being facetious when I say all whites dont watch boxing, just like 95% of them don't!
This is straight up bs,ffs ***** himself is an avid boxing fan & has been for many decades(he was close to Mike Tyson ffs,was even paid to commentate,& has hosted tons of fights at his casino)

Stop placing ppl in bubbles & assuming you know them personally, boxing is very popular among ************* because its the only not woke sport left(sortof at least)

Of course DAZN can afford to pay Alvarez 40 million, they just bought BT Sport. DAZN doesn't just do boxing and is a worldwide platform. The fight is on Showtime because Plant is loyal to Al Haymon and wouldn't fight on that platform and since he had the IBF belt, he had leverage.

Does anyone really think that Plant would be getting this Alvarez fight without the IBF belt?

I still want to see it! I would rather Charlo vs. Benavidez, winner gets Canelo!

I would be surprised to see the gate be that high. Nothing to do with the fighters or the promotion, but in this current time of covid, vaccination issues, travel issues, Im just skeptical that enough high rollers will make the trip......
