2 of the 12 belt holders in the UFC currently are American. The UFC held 20+ events outside of America in 2019 alone. Most weekends of the year i'd expect that whatever card the UFC is putting out is getting higher global viewership than any boxing card too.

And sorry to break it to you breh but everything points towards MMA just further and further solidifying itself as the foremost combat sport as times goes on. Just look at it in terms of which sport has sport the better capacity to win over new fans when both have an equal platform, and be honest with yourself.

I actually said Ben would lose badly and also that Mir/USS would be more competitive than people were claiming it would be, and would probably go the distance.

The thing is, I am a big fan of both. If some MMA tards were talking **** about boxing I would absolutely defend it. I actually think rationally discussing the merits of both etc is an interesting topic. Unfortunately the tribalism and blind pride/defensiveness means these threads are usually ****ing ******ed.
The person that started the thread has brought your mother and *******uals into the conversation - i don't think you're going to get a rational discussion.

I don't like MMA, but that's a wild statement, about them not being able to fight.

MMA is here to stay, but I do think MMA fans should start lowering their expectations about MMA taking over the fight game. The garbage pay they get will really stunt it's growth. You had essentially a couple rando's, and a good not great boxer in Prograis make more guaranteed than basically the MMA goat Jon Jones has on a single fight.

The hand skills of boxers are much more refined than the skills of MMAers, who frankly are jacks of all trades but masters of none. Most of them anyway.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion except you, your aren't because your opinion is **** and you are a ****. MMA fans have been saying the same **** since that joke organisation came out and it hasn't grown it's started to shrink in size if anything it'll never talked over because boxing fans mma fans aren't the same. Also because boxing fans are sports fans and that **** is not a sport it's a bunch of redneck dunces on a tough man contest.

MMA is a sport for people that didnt make it to the top in other sports. all that streetfighting nonsense argument hahahaha. Put that youtuber jake paul in a streetfight with ben askren, iŽd like his chances. mma is a bum sport. hw is dominated by a guy that started at 30 and a part time 38 year old firefighter. hell even a wwe actor was a ufc hw champ at one point. give Canelo 20 weeks of training and heŽd beat the dog**** out of McGregor or Poirier or whatever guy is fighting at a similar weight.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying in your post. But this part is inaccurate. I don't know what you've trained but if you have BJJ experience you'd agree that a black belt can submit a white belt in 9 seconds if they want to. I'm guessing a judo black belt could throw an inexperienced opponent in 9 seconds, a wrestler could take one down in 9 seconds etc. What we saw is the boxing version of that. Mercer spent decades practicing how to KO somebody when they leave the slightest opening, Sylvia presented him with a wide open target straight away. I'm not saying that would happen in most boxer vs MMA fights, but it wasn't in any way lucky.

Also, in his previous fight Sylvia was submitted, saying he was stopped in 36 seconds is a bit misleading no? Reality is he had never been 'stopped' by anything other than submissions prior to facing Mercer.

I don't want to talk down MMA because I have full respect for the fighters, and if fans prefer one over the other that's just personal taste not something to argue about. But to try give you a POV on why some boxing fans are critical of MMA, it's that the standard of striking in MMA gets overrated. A boxing fan sees that the UFC champ Ngannou's best quality is his boxing, but his boxing is not on the level of a top boxer, so it's just not as impressive.

The way I think about it is this: one of the reasons I found Khabib worth watching is because to my eyes he looked like he could get anybody to the ground. He just looked like the best wrestler in the world, he had technique, strength, intensity, I couldn't see any flaws at all in his grappling. But maybe that's just me not understanding wrestling. Maybe he has lots of flaws and I just don't pick up on them because I've never watched amateur or Olympic wrestling. I think it's the same with UFC fans when they analyse striking, it's harder for them to see the mistakes and openings. Remember when Rousey was getting early KOs? A lot of MMA fans thought she was a great boxer and just couldn't see her bad technique. It would be like me trying to analyse somebody's double leg takedown.
