Miguel Cotto To Get Taxed By WBO, Even if Non-Title

That's really messed up how their doing Cotto. Why can't it be a non
title fight? And why does he have to pay even if he vacates the title?
Boxing is becoming more and more greedy as the days go by.

I just read the article Grustler, and from what I understood if Cotto vacates the title he would not be "taxed." What Valcarcel stated was that even if Cotto were to fight Pac without putting the title at stake he would still have to pay the WBO. The point is moot, however, because he then goes on to state that the fight HAS to be for the title because it is within the welterweight limits. Nothing at all prohibits Cotto from vacating and then going ahead with the fight. In the latter case there is no way the WBO can force Cotto to pay anything at all. Pac, however, would most likely pay the sanctioning fees in order to win the subsequently vacated title.

Is not about paying the fees is about that in the "verbal agreement" nobody said that the fight will be a title fight and Arum said that he would pay the fees. Cotto already said that if they keep pushing he will give up the title.If they had come and tell Cotto ok Pac is gona challenge you for the title there be no problem.
