Miguel Cotto To Get Taxed By WBO, Even if Non-Title

According to WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto will still have pay a sanctioning fee to the WBO, even if the title is not on the line against Manny Pacquiao on November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Cotto, as champion, has to pay the WBO a minimum of $1,000 and a max of $150,000.

If the WBO does not insist that the title be contested then I think Arum should pay the fees. If the WBO forces Cotto to put it up or strip him, he should vacate it first. Or, of course the final thing where Manny comes to 147. What the Pacquiao camp and roach and wbo are pulling is

Cotto should keep putting pressure on Pacquiao to go up to 147.

If I were Cotto I would tell them to go find another opponent. This is ridiculous.

Because they are vultures!! Totally ridiculous. What's the next step? They start pulling names out of a hat and "taxing" them as well?

BTW, I find the use of the term "tax" very revealing.
