As happy as I was for Margarito's victory that's how sad I was for Cotto

but he wasnt 7 minutes away from winning, Margarito was leading on the judges cards before the fight ended and about half way through the fight Cotto looked more like he was in survival mode than actually trying to win the fight.

In europe if Cotto was an Euro he would certainly have won. The ref would stop the bout several times to tighten shoelaces or something like that and would have given time for Cotto to recuperate. Not on my money though.
What the hell are you talking about?

Cotto did a beautiful job of boxing early, but lets be real, he wasn't 7 minutes away from winning the fight. If anything, he was 7 minutes away from the end of his career and possible permanent damage. Margarito was getting stronger and faster as the rounds continued. He broke Cotto down systematically, and I commend Cotto for taking as much punishment as he did. And even though I expect him to beat up Jennings, I'm far from convinced that he'll ever be the same again.

When Cotto can't hurt his man he goes into retreat/box mode, he will never be able to beat Margarito because he can't do what he did the first 5 rounds the whole fight. It was when he needed to take a short break that Margarito would put a beating on him while he rested on the ropes. I re watched the fight and Cotto fought a perfect fight but the pressure cracked him. I see the rematch being almost the same but Margarito knocking him out quicker, Cotto should stay away from Margarito if he wants to keep winning.

Cotto is a smooth Boxer/Puncher who looks for spots and likes to dictate how the fight goes. Margarito took Cotto out of his comfort zone, he was a terminator the whole fight coming forward and the last round Cotto's legs were gone and he knew it was over.
I actually thought Cotto won three of the four rounds he boxed against Mosely, but other than that, good post. Dead on.

Its all , coulda woulda, shoulda. Meldrick Taylor v Chavez, Juan Manuel marquez v Manny,
Didnt margarito get beat fair and square against williams
Paquaio is now at the holy grail with a split over marquez, a win against an average guy and beating up a shot fighter.
Everyone just loves to jump on the bandwagon. I suppose it will be the shock of the world when the legitamate 140lb champion hatton destroys the lightweight paquaio.
These boards make heroes who have no right to be.

Cotto was so close and he would of been a better face of boxing imo. He's younger than Manny and Manny has already indicated that his career is over soon.

Listen, I'm a Cotto fan, but he was/is nowhere near becoming the face of boxing. He doesn't even have a solid West Coast following, yet.

And you do realize that since he lost, he will probably never get a chance in the De La Hoya sweepstakes. If Oscar chooses to come back, it will not be for Cotto.

Cotto's marketability in an Oscar fight would have rested on the fact that he's this unbeaten rising superstar...coming up to face the future Hall Of Famer, and boxing's biggest draw.

Now that he lost, in devistating fashion...the mystique is gone...and his a lot of where he goes from here lies in the outcome of his rematch in the summer with Margarito.

Thats not what he seem to be saying to me, Even if cotto beat margarito in a rematch things arent the same like if he had beat him in their first fight.

Cotto would have move on to bigger and better things e.g like fighting oscar instead of wanting a rematch to revenge his lost to Margarito.
