The fight would n't have been close imo, if Cotto had carried on doing what he was doing, which was fighting from mid range outspeeding Mosley hitting him with punches and sliding underneath him before he could come back with anything.



I did not think Bazan deserved to be stopped or pulled out TBH.

7 minutes!!! If he kept boxing Margarito he would have won that fight, then move on to De La Hoya. Instead of Manny showing the world his skills in destroying DLH it could of been Cotto. Now even if Cotto beats Marg and then he kills DLH he would not get credit. People will say Manny did it first. Cotto was so close and he would of been a better face of boxing imo. He's younger than Manny and Manny has already indicated that his career is over soon.

Its not to late for cotto like u said he's young so he still has time. It was his first lost everyone acts like his career is over. In the rematch he needs to box and not worry about knocking him out...cotto was shocked on how marg was taking his punches and kept coming..i think he will be ready for the rematch and bring the title back to puerto rico....1

clearly, losing the way he did got rid of alot of luster that was beginning to shine on em. it's clear he totally underestimated margarito.every time he landed a sweet combo early on he'd bounce around like an idiot.he needs to up his fitness big time.i think he can win, if he does certain things he did not do.mainly countering margarito to the body.which he did not do.

When Cotto can't hurt his man he goes into retreat/box mode, he will never be able to beat Margarito because he can't do what he did the first 5 rounds the whole fight. It was when he needed to take a short break that Margarito would put a beating on him while he rested on the ropes. I re watched the fight and Cotto fought a perfect fight but the pressure cracked him. I see the rematch being almost the same but Margarito knocking him out quicker, Cotto should stay away from Margarito if he wants to keep winning.

Cotto is a smooth Boxer/Puncher who looks for spots and likes to dictate how the fight goes. Margarito took Cotto out of his comfort zone, he was a terminator the whole fight coming forward and the last round Cotto's legs were gone and he knew it was over.

Wow great post, am surprise you have this in you.... I doubt cotto would have won the fight anyway, I had the fight 5-5 going into the 11th round and Rito was more active and energize, Cotto alway seem to have nothing left by the 9th round of his fights.

I remember in the mosley fight when cotto seem hurt in the 9th round and everybody was puzzle about what happened to him because he was backing off..well it was because he was tired and had to take some rest in between, Mosley couldnt nad didnt capitalise on it while Margarito was able to continue his assault which result in the stoppage.

He was 7 minutes away from losing a decision. I believe 2 judges had Margarito up 6-4. The best Cotto could have done was get a Majority Draw if he were to win the last 2 rounds and not have gotten knocked down or seriously hurt

This comes to show how ****ty boxing is as a sport. When you have people who could have been there without earning their places based on 7minutes. In europe if Cotto was an Euro he would certainly have won. The ref would stop the bout several times to tighten shoelaces or something like that and would have given time for Cotto to recuperate. Not on my money though.

Whoa... whoa... whoa. If Cotto beat Margarito and beats the winner of Floyd/Hatton... I don't see any reason why he won't be the face of boxing.
