When hopkins beats pavlik, i wonder what the calzaghe haterz will come up with, im sure beating the "old" rjj won't persuade them but isnt joe 37? not exactly a young man.

Think joe would have beaten most of them. He would of probally made tarvers carear look bad and that would have made rjj look worse, maybe.

I love both of them. Can't stand calzaghe haterz though.

the question is Would he be able to do it! I think he has the tools and skill do beat them all, he is unbeaten and has faced all kinds of different fighters. It is a difficult one to answer because of the weights RJJ went through. I think he could but definately not a cert!

I don't see him beating Hopkins, Ruiz, Toney, prime Tarver( simply too big) and his fight with Glen Johnson fell through so i would have been interested to see how that would have turned out as well.

The horrendously weight drained Toney that Jones fought was very beatable by Calzaghe. Prime for Prime is another argument entirely - actually a prime Toney is arguably a more difficult opponent than a prime Jones would be for Calzaghe.

Calzaghe would also have beaten Hopkins in 2002 when the fight was slated to happen originally. Back then he actually had some pop to go with his workrate and was undoubtedly in his prime back then.

The questions I have are around Hill and Griffin really. Didn't really see enough of them at the time to comment but from what I have seen of them on tape I'd have Calzaghe a favourite.

The Ruiz question is irrelevant really. Any ****er could have potshotted him.

If the question is reversed, then of course Jones cleans the lot out. Although he wouldn't have beaten Kessler last year and arguably Lacy would have got to him in 2006. Jones in his prime would have KO'd the lot within 4.

They've both fought some **** though, but then there's only ever so many decent opponents around.

Johnson is absolutely tailor made for Calzaghe IMO. No chance of stopping him even in his prime of course, but a come-forward fighter like that is perfect for Joe ... even one as relentless as Glen. Hell, Woods beat him a couple of times and no version of Woods touches any version of Calzaghe.

I forgot about Tarver - that's an interesting one. Would have been good to see.

So...you're comparing Pavlik to Calzaghe's career? I though Pavlik was a new guy with no key wins yet and Joe was an ATG?

Try and stay consistent Joe fanboys.

Im of the same opinion as danc.

I agree also. It's the height of fanboy hubris to assume Joe could go to heavy and beat Ruiz when the guy so far has looked like **** at LHW. And before you say it's "Hopkins style" Hopkins is 100 years old.

I'm sure the Ruiz that beat Holy has a real hard time with tiny ass Joe and his thunder slaps.

Of course, it was also a prime Calzaghe who fought Hopkins eh.

He's barely half the fighter he was a few years ago.
