He would have beaten that version of Hopkins. He might have beaten that version of Toney. Definietly not Ruiz. Maybe not Tarver.

      That's it.

I mean look at Tarver...he went basically through Jones' resume, but in less impressive fashion. That would be the same with Calzaghe imo.

no. I doubt Joe could have made 160 and still be able to beat Hopkins or maybe even JF Castro. That extra 8 pounds might take a lot out of Calzaghe.

Also, it might be difficult for Calzaghe to beat Virgil Hill, who was a very good boxer. Montell Griffin might give him some problems too.

...I also have some questions about how Calzaghe would do against guys like Richard Hall and Tarver, but Ive never seen Calzaghe fight a high level southpaw...or any southpaw. so I cant say.

I also give the Glen Johnson that fought Jones a good chance too. I would also like to say McCallum, but McCallum was way too old at that point. A prime McCallum vs Calzaghe would have been very interesting.

He probably would have beaten those versions of Toney and Hopkins, Griffin, Tarver, Hill, Harding and Ruiz would all be tough fights for him, fights I'm not sure he'd win.

Young Bernard definitely gets the win over Calzaghe. James Toney would've beaten him. Montel Griffin might've given him a hard time as well as Antonio Tarver. I think Glen Johnson would've beat him. No way in hell be beats Ruiz. I'd say that if Trinidad moved up to SMW at a younger age that would've been a good fight.

Thats why your boyfriend ran from Johnson right?

Young Bernard, the one of 1993, was no where near as good. He was a come foward slugger. He wasn't the boxer-puncher he was in his prime. That version of Hopkins beats Calzaghe, but the slugger version ain't.

Calzaghe would beat Johnson. Johnson doesn't do very good with combos at all and Calzaghe throws a ton of them.

He'd have closer fights with Hill, Hall, and Griffin.

The only toss ups imo are Toney, who was not a 100%, and Tarver.
