No no and no he wouldn't.
I can't say how Joe would look against Ruiz simply cuz his only fight at LHW looked ****e. He fought at SM his whole life and jumping up 40+lbs would be really unhealthy for him and his face. I don't think Ruiz would beat prime Toney but yes he would beat Toney that turned up to fight Jones. He would not beat Hopkins that fought RJJ. Antonio Tarver and Virgil Hill would probably be too much for Joe as well. Probably, since I havent seen Joe fighting a top competition during his prime. Don't get me wrong, I like Joe but I voted no.

    Oh and btw
Today Joe vs today Roy = close fight
Prime Joe vs Prime Roy = Roy wins by a KO

I'd like an explanation from someone who thinks Joe could go up HW and beat Ruiz?

Not saying Ruiz is a world beater, but making weight successfully would be a pretty big ask.

I respect Joe for being a boxer and being able to win all 45 of his fights but he has carefully picked his oponents and has not fought the best IMO. If he were to fight Pavlik and AA and win then that would shut up everyone and if anyone had anything to say it would be pure hating. Unblemished record but c level opposition. Beating RJJ at this point in time does nothing for his legacy. It just fattens his wallet

Bringing in Pavlik and AA at this stage of Joe's career is too much I think. Beating either of them would prove that he's a really good fighter.
I fancy any of them to beat Joe tho.

Jones, while held in high esteem among many, is still detracted by others for his refusal...or inabilty to face certain fighters in the ring due to his or their inclinations, thus leaving his "legacy" in doubt in some ways.

Here's what I mean. He never fought Michael Nunn, Nigel Benn, Gerald McClellan, Chris Eubank, Joe Calzaghe,or rematched with Bernard Hopkins after X's victory over Trinidad..which would have made a bundle of money. Now WHO was responsible for any of these "matches that never were", at this point, is a MOOT POINT. Time has passed. They didn't happen. Let the fan or critic draw their own conclusions as to why.
All fighters miss other fighters for one reason or another, but you can cross both Eubank and McClellen off that list in my opinion. McClellan because of the obvious tragedy, and Eubank because bt the time vJones has moved to 168 Chris had already lost twice to Stevie Collins.
Calzaghe, on the other hand, has been disresptected in America for years primarily because of two things...well, three. 1. Lack of general respect in the "colonies" for the WBOgus belt which he wore.
Alright, I can agree with this.

            2. Lack of respect for the competion he fought....ironic, considering American-Jones own resume for the most part...with a few obvious exceptions.
I agree with the part about Cals comp. But that fact is, Roy only had 5 or 6 fights at 168 before he went up to 175 and unified the titles there. Had Joe done the same at 168 he would have been given much more respect. As it stands he looks like he has been protected. Whether that is true or not, its still how it appears.

and 3. his "non-Americaness". Argue all you want, fellow yanks...you know it's true.
You should put that on all Americans because it simply wouldn't be true. But I will admit that many do have a bisedness toward our own fighters.

Now, here they are, Calzghe riding a title wave of praise following his success over the last few years and he's about the face a Jones who is obviously past his best.

What if Jones wins? And wins impressively?

If this happens, not only will Jones soiled reputation after the Tarver-Johnson destructions be put under the microscope again...for the better; but the exact opposite for Calzaghe will take place.

Though I think Joltin' Joe should win at this stage...it is a very risky proposition, "historically speaking".....in my opinion, anyway.

Joe will win this fight at this stage. IF he did lose, it would be much worse for him then when Roy lost to Tarver.

I agree with you Chunk. As boring as Ruiz is I don't see Joe going up to HW and beating him.

Would he ****! that's why he stayed in Wales making love to sheep until all his peers were over the hill or past their primes. Even then Hopkins spanked the little ****. joe calslappy is nothing more than a daylight robber who avoided a rematch with mighty Robin Reid!!!!
