Sulaiman loved it when Tyson Fury was constantly blathering on about being the lineal champ, because he wanted the WBC and the imaginary lineal title to be associated with each other in the minds of gullible fans.

You are making some fundamentally flawed assumptions... again. Since when do fighters need to understand anything other than what opportunities exist for them at any given time? The irony here is huge because IN the case of a fighter, your treatment of the lineal, or any other honor might well apply! The fighter would not necesarily care about any title other than what it brings to the table for them... Isn't that what Fury did with the lineal? and what any other fighter does when offered a belt? None of these titles mean anything to the fighter, and they seldom do! But assuming that condtion is only for the lineal is false. What do you think would happen if Usyk was told he would get more recognition and money praising the lineal and calling himself it's champion? Or, if the belts he held were not relevant, and that he needed another alphabet soup belt to be undisputed in some fashion?

You also assume fans that understand the meaning of a title that has historical gravitas, that can be traced beyond any special interest... including the mob's interest... are "guilable" when it is precisely casual fans like yourself that assume conditional titles have meaning because they say they do. History tells us that boxing is coopted regularly by various special interests... that is a fact. having uniform regulation would be great, that is not what the alphabets are about... guilable indeed!

So is David Benavidez the new lightheavyweight champion? Bivol gave up his WBC belt, so does that make the "Mexican monster" the new lightheavyweight champion of the world because the WBC says so?
