I think it likely Marciano went after more money,though Ali wasn't hitting him with some stray full power shots as Rocky did him.

Rocky even had a gimmick to get his dimes back from phone boxes,he was a pathological miser.

I've read through all these posts. I am SHOCKED and GOBSMACKED. To think that Rocky was other than a gentleman to all women, was not pure as the driven snow, didn't love puppies and babies is enough to shake me to my very souk.

Rocky was not a man to be trifled with outside of the ring. Willie Pep told the story of the time he paid for some drinks at a restaurant while they were dining with some mixed company. Rocky pulled him aside and was furious that he made Rocky look bad. He told Willie to never pay for anything, let them pay. There was another story of Rocky who was being harassed by a drunk in a bar. The drunk calling Rocky a bum and insisting he could take him. The entire time Rocky humored him, nodding in agreement and remaining calm. When the drunk stumbled away a friend of Rocky asked why he took it from him. He said he gets challenged in public often but if he were to knock out one of these idiots he'd be sued for everything he has.

Most boxers are rough guys who come from poverty and scrappy upbringings. They often led a life of crime and violence on their way to the top--LaMotta, Graziano, Liston, Tyson and many others were not good people on their way to the top.
