it's like queeny here he knows he can't outwit me so he tries to just come second! but maybe james felt the judges may have seen it differently and given him the win. if you watch the full fight he did very well. We all have seen how judges can see it differently like fury wilder 1 and his last fight against that russian usek

I watched the fight as it happened, AND I have the video in .avi format. The fight was NOT close, Smith got pounded on, and Smith was NOT trying to win.....which is inexcusable in a professional fighter who hasn't been badly hurt. Managing to not get KTFO is NOT doing "very well". If you think it is, then you're a moron of monumental proportions.

yes i am a moron and sad and pathetic and it is clear i am a n**i who needs help. there i said it for you!
you dont know his tactics he may have supposed tyson would tire and get him to later rounds only to find that didn't work well as he thought. It is common for boxers to try and wait and hang on till the other guy gasses out. Maybe james thought he could count on tyson not going the distance.
If ali didn't knock out foreman history would say ali was battered. so perhaps smith had that in mind. but then again maybe i am just a sad pathetic moron who is a n9zi who needs help who you are going to ignore because it is clear i am a nasi drunk who needs help!

Fine, then GTFO my computer screen. If you're going to make idiotic posts and waste my time, then it's obvious you're a troll who needs douching. Hit the bricks.

Remember what Tyson always said "Everyone has a plan until they get hit."

No fighter (Champion) thinks he's going to lose (save maybe Spinks) but then they have Tyson in their face. Everything changes after round one.

I suspect Smith was in survival mode, but not intential, as much as it being only human of him.

No doubt his tactic was smart, but it was ugly. We tend not to praise things that look ugly even if they are smart.

Smith, said himself, in the post fight interview, 'I did what I had to do,' challengeling the announcer to offer a better solution to his dilemma.

But since the tactic offered no possibility of victory, one can say it was not smart.
this a good vid about bonecrusher smith willy
see if it changes your view at all?

Holmes by decision, with some scares along the way.

smith may have anticipated mike gassing out. we never really get to hear the tactics of the loser whose plan never worked out do we.
I was just saying that smith, at the time of that fight that i watched as a kid live, was taking mike the distance and if i remember right tyson was knocking most guys out of it in a few rounds.
don't forget that aura mike had back then if you are old enough to recall in the day which i think judging by the fact you are a teacher and very educated you sure will recall willie.
it is like wilder now. once they lose that aura goes and all boxers want to fight them a win. but at the time of that smith fight taking mike the distance and hoping he will tire was a wise tactic just that mike proved his stamina was there along with all his other skills.
but smith could have been a douglas a while later and got mike late on another night. he caught bruno in the last minutes so it may have been a plan.
