When Walcott knocked out charles I’m sure they were best of friends. Back then you actually never know. Ezzard charles was on Tv one time with Joe Louis. He burst out laughing at one point around Louis like they had some inside joke going on. That surprised me, also seemed like charles had never been on TV

He wants his perfect range at all moments, and manages to stay there far more than most boxers. He backs up a lot seeking that perfect range from which he can leap forward and throw a few punches. Sometimes he just draws back, like they tell you not to. He likes to suddenly leap forward in that situation. He does quite a bit of leaping forward and quickly retreating out of range. He will not leap past his opponent and open himself up for the check hook though. And he is not throwing many of those himself because Billy will not cooperate, being just leery enough. If the opponent gets too close, Charley clinches so the ref will intervene and they can reset again.

He has speed--well, he seems to have everything, a full medicine pouch. Not sure where his power is. His punches are not having much affect on this opponent, but some of them look pretty hard.
Burley had a terrific right hand.

I think it was Eddie Futch who said that he was like a better version of Roy Jones Jr.

Scary to think if he was right.

Maybe Burley would have more commercial success today with his defensive style. Mayweather did.

Mayweather talked a lot of smack. I firmly believe more people bought his PPV's wanting him to lose rather than win. As great as he was, his style nor his personality were endearing to fans.

Burley could have had more commercial suggest with his defensive style even back then.

Burley's failure was mangement and his failure/refusal to fight in New York.

Wins over Oakland Billy Smith and Holman Williams (both also California fighters) wasn't going to get him the big fights.

Only the Zivic trilogy got him noticed but he didn't grab that opportunity and shoot for the Garden. He went back to California instead.

It's hard to say he was ducked when there's no mention of him in the New York papers.

There should have been fights with Armstrong, SRR, Zale, Graziano, LaMotta . . . But the newspaper guys never put him in the mix. No New York fights, no ink, no promoter interest.

He wasn't ducked, he was ignored.

If you can't even do that then don't box, you can't fight lol. and yes willie pep beat guys up, and tried to stop them.

walking away with a decision having never even hurt your opponent means you didn't try, and shouldn't be awarded. If you plan on staying away all night and landing grazing shots, then your opponent shouldn't be obligated to pressure you and make a fight either.
So this was truth here 1st pic so why did you say the other crap in the other pic did you lose your mind to fit in with the crazy trolls

I'm hurt you don't read my posts. . . . I told you before, he is Chinese and the translator is broken.

That's why there is a net under him. Wait, there is definitely a net under this guy, but maybe he's not Chinese. Or maybe the windows are just locked.

I keep trying to visualize this guy typing but just can't match the text to a human face.

For some reason I see him standing up and hitting the keys real hard.
