I binned Netflix a few months ago and decided to give all the HBO classics a go. I'd already watched The Wire so decided to jump straight in with The Sopranos.
Anyway, how the hell did I miss this show? I watched the end of season 5 last night and when Adrianna got whacked, I honestly nearly shed a tear.
I'm just hoping that season 6 is as good as the previous seasons.
What are your thoughts on this masterpiece?
I feel like the Sopranos and Oz, were two shows that were pretty easy to digest... The Wire was a bit more complex, it really does tell a story and has some pretty intense s hit. Like when some of the kids who have a good heart are killed, and the mother, who it is easy to condemn, was trying to make it so her son had a chance to thrive in the family handling "business" and they wind up killing the kid.
BUT the most intense show on HBO and the most disturbing for me was without a doubt "Six Feet Under." What a monument to California, over educated, f u cked up boomers and their kids. Every character in the show is strong enough to carry a show...just a really unpleasant show that gets it! and shows how California and its subculture has been a major problem for the majority of sane folks in this country.

Sad scene

Sopranos was GOAT show.
Hbo magic.
GoT could have surpassed it but they stuffed it completely with Season 8.
Gomorrah is also brilliant but honestly one of the things that lifts Sopranos is the little bits of comedy gold sprinkled in some of the episodes.
Paulie and Silvio are classic characters

Sopranos is probably my 2nd favorite long term no longer running drama series (Breaking Bad being #1). Great series with so many compelling moments.
Have been thinking of rewatching it & seeing how it holds up.
And randomly I'm looking forward to the Sopranos prequel movie that I believe should be coming out soon. Think James G's son plays a young Tony Soprano in it.
