    Chris Rock at the Oscars

Thoughts on his opening monologue? I thought he made some key points.

Was disappointed in his monologue. Wasn't that funny like I thought it would be.

Pretty good. I mean, he can't be 100% his usual self for the Oscars, but he's doing well and I'm glad he made some somewhat "politically incorrect" jokes.

He was so much better there last time he hosted. House jokes just weren't hitting. The credited was laughing, but they had to because of the whole,"black people don't get nominated " BS.

Those people cater to their own circle. Including white outsiders.
How do all black shows and movies get made?

            His recent movie was trash.

Call me crazy but when I watch the Oscars I prefer to be entertained instead of being lectured about how racist everyone is.

Didn't watch, but if Chris Rock really wanted to say what was on his mind, he would talk about how black people don't care about winning Oscars, only n**gas do.

You know instead of people *****ing about black people not getting nominated for any Oscars

Why doesn't somebody show me an example of a spectacular performance by a black actor that deserved to be nominated?

I haven't seen will Smith's movie yet but it honestly doesn't look that damn good.

The Oscars are Bull**** anyway because sicario was by far the best movie I seen all year and it didn't even get nominated for Best picture.

Sadly, the only thing that will come out of this is people that do not want to deal with the issue of race will pretend the next person of color that wins an Oscar is doing so only because of the protests this year.

The major point is about opportunities. There are certain roles that can only cast actors of a particular color. We all get that. What Rock and others are talking about is opportunities when the color of the character is neutral.

Example-James Bond or Jack Ryan or Ethan Hunt.

I thought the story he told about what he said to President ***** was particularly compelling. If writers are the backbone of movies (and TV) perhaps if they hired more diverse people (color and where they went to undergrad) maybe you would see more diverse stories and characters.

Its not just black actors but all actors of color that deal with this issue.

In the end, Hollywood makes films mostly to make money. In that respect, its understandable why so many roles go to white actors-they have proven to be bankable and make profit.
