Does it have to be a band or can it be an artist? If artist, Bowie. If band, I'm torn.

Regarding the topic at hand, after giving it careful consideration I've come to the conclusion that, in the event of being stranded on a deserted island I'd need music that would motivate me to get **** done. I couldn't be sitting there listening to chill **** (a lot of which I enjoy) because I'd likely spend too much time laying around vibing and not enough time being productive.
Given that, I'd have to go with an extreme metal band, probably grindcore. Most likely Converge or Insect Warfare. I'd need something to motivate me to eat a bunch of gross **** I wouldn't normally eat for survival and chop down enough trees to make shelter and a raft to attempt to GTFO.
I couldn't do any of that listening to, say, Radiohead.

Man that's a damn tough choice... :/
I think I'd have to say Trivium because they have such a vast variety to offer between their starting album to their current album so it wouldn't be a case of the same thing from one album to the next.
Other notable mentions I'd say is As I lay Dying, they've got a good bit of quality from album to album getting heavier as they proceed on through the years.

If you like Death Metal your simple choice would be...
Death
If you like melodic death metal
Amon Amarth
If you like metalcore
AILD
If you like thrash metal I'd suggest Slayer, I'm not that knowledgeable of that genre.
Wont bother with deathcore and black metal but there really is an endless amount of music coming out from metal/rock.
