An to be clear, I'm not saying any of this to bash Russia. As far as I'm concerned, fair play to them. War is how kingdoms are forged, how land is gained and lost. Including the land im living in, and everybody that's reading this regardless of what country they are in. And....wars are not pretty.

I'm just saying this in Chechens (not ****** extremists), defense. If somebody came into my country and destroyed it, and/killed my family, you better goddamn well believe I'll pick up a gun/make bombs/etc. This is a major reason why I feel we, the U.S, is ***d in the middle east. The longer we stay, the more innocents that die...in other words, the more of peoples family members die. Its just spawning more *********s. We're at the point where we are damned if we do (pull out), and damned if we don't. Either way we are gonna have to watch our back and always/forever be on the lookout.

And I seriously doubt we will have to wait another 10 years before another ********* attack, unfortunately. I'm rambling now....

Independence is very much about a majority vote. It's democracy, the people's right to self-determination

Whether it be Puerto Rico, Scotland, the Falklands or Gibraltar, the people in those places have the right to determine their future.

Many conflicts go back hundreds of years (including those above) but it's where we stand today which is what counts.

If the majority of Chechnya wanted to remain part of Russia, then one can at least understand why Russia 'came in', if not the brutality. If it is a case of Russia trying to retain an area which no longer wants to be part of them, then it's less defensible.

Republic of Chechnya just like other few dozens belong to Russia for a loong time. 150 years ago, they were being Tsar's private security. Until 90s.. .

That's like saying, Indians in US turned to **** and kill innocent Americans because loong time ago, it was their land.

Yea in fantasy land. Find me an instance where independence was ever determined by an "occupied" country's internal ********ic majority vote.

              Its nice in theory

The brutality of what the russians did isnt some far off distant memory. Hell, all they have to do is step outside, into the rubble, and they are quickly reminded. Not to mention if they lost a loved one.
