i remember the chechen wars mid 90's-late 90's.

the u.s. would stick their nose in.

nothing major. just some light public talk, maybe some behind the scenes talk.

russians were still brutal but maybe not as brutal as they could have. at least not publicly with u.s./e.u. softies watching.

after 9/11 it was different. usa just didn't a crap.

And throw them all under the bus. Sure, some extremists have done some horrific, inexcusable things, but it didn't start at that point. It was brought to that point. Here's a concept, treat people like dogs and animals long enough, and they'll respond in kind. A family member, daughter, etc being killed is plenty enough motivation to to pick up a gun.

Chechens just wanted independence, Russia refused, and responded with brute military force, completely decimating their cities, The capital Grozny being the most signifanct, aswell as killing innocent civilians. Its takes two to tango, there are two sides to this coin. Let's not be ignorant Americans on the issue, The Russians certainly are no saints on the matter. Again, not trying to excuse some the actions done by extremists, but just a response to some posts I've been reading in this board that 'Chechens are dogs/animals'

Yeah you still get morons who say "Why are we in Afghanistan!? Those guys were SAUDIS!!!!11111onewhathef_ck" despite the fact that they were trained in Afghanistan in training camps protected by the Taliban while the Saudi leadership, loathsome as it is, is generally amenable to the United States.

I disagree. I'm not sure if this is the primary explanation in this case. I think that Islam may have provided justification for the bombing, at least in the minds of the two brothers. I think that the primary motivation however has more to do with what the uncle said. They are losers and they are unable to settle themselves.
