I never looked at Puyol as one of the elites. He's a great player no doubt and with a ton of heart, he took Spain to the World Cup final. But he never impressed me.

Underachieving? City have spent billions and have what? Until the weekend, you'd won 2 trophies since the 2008 takeover? Now talk to me about underachieving.

The new development that is intended not only to produce the premier football academy in the world, but is also going to promote grass root sports in the local community? Yeah, it makes me sick too. Not like a proper team who charges double the ticket price of everybody else and immediately sells any player that arouses the interest of a top team to make a profit for the wealthy owners.

He's never been world class.
I can name you hundreds of players who never won an international major trophy who are classified by the average football fan as WORLD CLASS.
Winning trophies doesn't make you ''World Class'' .

a one-club player, who has won a ridiculous amount of accolades, internationally and at the club level.
i get it, british faggots have a lot of trouble acknowledging a great player from another country. it's that idiotic nationalism, no one in their right mind thinks sol fucking campbell has had a bigger impact on the game than Puyol. Terry is of Puyol's caliber, both world class, but not sol campbell, you bucktooth dumbass.

Puyol is rudimentary much like a Campbell. But he suffered something like 34 injuries over his 15 year career including 8 knee injuries. He had good moments certainly but he is not as good as the players mentioned even if they are 'Limeys'
Physically Campbell was a beast. Quick, powerful, strong.
I don't think England produce many top class players but centre half is historically the position we do produce the quality due to the way football is played in this country from an early age - namely having little kids playing on full size pitches having to defend long balls, be brave, show good positioning and stopping opposition trying to score a goal against 3'4 goalie in a full sized goal.
The current pairing is the weakest possible of all time regarding England centre halves and I like Cahill.
Outside of the Italians and the Germans who have had some great ones our centre backs are up there.
