Pride and the league title. Six points off the top of the table, three games in hand, City in the driving seat.

Mancinii won the league in his first season?
    No.

I am still not sure that fluke of a title win should be counted.. Joey Barton.. showed his true colours leaving his team with only 10 men for 40 odd mins.. so his old team could get an easy win.. they still almost screwed that up.
Fluke? 89 points and a goal difference of +64 is not a fluke.

There should have been a playoff between City/United for the title that year.. obviously they FA.. like the press are heavily bias in City's favor that didn't happen
Yes, you're absolutely right. Despite the rules about league positions being decided on points then goal difference then on goals for being set and established for decades since before the Premier League was a thing, despite the fact that there was no contention in the eventual winner, it's entirely reasonable to completely change it on this occasion and have a playoff because that's what you want.

The reason that the FA and the League didn't immediately change their rules was entirely because of some sort of bias in City's favour because everyone knows that Manchester United traditionally get a really hard time from football officials. That is the ONLY possible explanation.

Wow, it's no wonder United is the most hated team in football.

Haha five more years of Moyes!
Yeah, conveniently forget that Mancini was working with unlimited funds and his shameful Champions League runs. Couldn't even get out of the group stage.

There's nothing to be prideful about in hollow trophies.

Mancini was a failure and Moyes is proving it right now.

                  FA Cup and the League.

After the Treble Alex Ferguson was asked which competition was most important and his answer was winning the league. Sir Alex Ferguson believed that winning the league takes precedence over all other endeavours.

Apparently though scraping through into the Champion's League quarter finals is a far better achievement than winning the league, and if United come second because of goal difference they should change the rules to include a playoff.

Manchester United fans of my acquaintance have always had a terrible attitude to the game and their recent success made it worse. When your team drops out of the top ten and installs a revolving door in the manager's office it's going to be hilarious watching the rattles being thrown out of the pram and then the exodus of fans.
