What is that Gold Cup? What was that tournament the US beat Mexico in not so long again.

Also Pulisic is at Chelsea so it cant be important

The Gold Cup is like North America's version of the European Championship.

The thing US beat Mexico in is similar to that thing Portugal won. Uefa Nations League.

Not gonna lie, the US may get smacked up. Mexico plays every US game like it's the World Cup final. Berhalter (US coach) called up at team of MLS players. So, idk how that's gonna go.

Why is Pulisic not there? Seems weird that did he just shun it?

I dunno if it can be the same. I think most Europeans will regard the Euros are probably harder to win than the World Cup because there are no weak teams usually and really the game is weighted to Europe. They have all the resources and all the know how.

The world cup is bigger but it isn't much bigger. I'd love someone left field to win a world cup to prove me wrong but I really dont think the South Americans are genuine threats

The Gold Cup is comparable to the Euros in that it's the biggest tournament for the continent, it's different in that mostly nobody ****ing cares It's literally the entire US B team there, no serious US guys playing in Europe showed up for this tournament. Even teams like Honduras, Jamaica and Canada basically brought B teams. Just pretty much accepted by everyone that preparing for their league seasons in Europe is more important than this tournament. Played every 2 years though, instead of 4 like the Euros. Always played the year before and after the World Cup. Usually the year after the World Cup, everyone brings their A team and goes for it all, the year before nobody cares and all the attention is put on WC Qualifying. Mexico has the better side, US has looked awful honestly, but has found a way to ****house wins over Haiti, Canada, Jamaica and Qatar. Expect a boring, 1-0 or 2-0 win from Mexico in the final, they haven't looked all that great either, but have a better squad and are in a bit better form than the US. That Nations League that we beat them in though was our A team vs their A team, this game will mean a lot more to Mexico and they will go balls to the wall to win. A US victory would be shocking honestly.

Hell, even Miazga is too high up the totem pole to be called in for this tournament

Don't know how people can honestly say that considering the last two euro winners were Portugal and Italy

You will never see a team like Greece win the modern world cup

Is that not an endorsement though? Portugal didn't even win a game did they in normal time to win that? And Greece played a teams in Portugal that had beaten England on pens in a ridiculous game and then the Netherlands.

Greece is possibly a bit of a different era but that was a football miracle again to Leicester.

My belief is just I dont think the top European nations would be fussed if they got Brazil or Argentina in a knockout world cup game. I think they would be favorites to win. Knockout football can still produce any result but I just cant see your traditional free flowing, champagne football type Brazil doing that well in today's game. The ball has almost become secondary.

It is all pressing and counter pressing.

We will see though, I'd like someone completely different to do well. An African nation going as far or further than Cameroon.

I just think the game is weighted to Europe. It has all the resources and it is basically the knowledge base of the game where tactical innovation will happen first.

I'm not sure how grass roots works in Brazil even. It is an enormous country but in England you have kids at elite academies from the age of 8 and that happens all around Europe.

Yes, this would be badass, with the WC expanding teams soon, USA and Mexico will never even be in danger of potentially missing a WC, it will impossible not to make it, so at that point there are hardly any competitions where those teams are getting pushed and have to win under pressure. A merging of the America's would change that and raise everyone's game imo
