Yeah its probably safe, but if you had taken away the army/walls separating the Loyalists and Unionists it could have got pretty bad. I got my info from a work colleague who's from (london)derry. She may have been exaggerating but even half of what she described would still seem alien to the way I grew up, and I dont live on streets paved with gold by a long stretch.

Yeah it's not that bad anymore. People always remember and always talk about the bad things that happened because they are significant. If 10,000 people walk through an estate and nothing happens you don't hear about it, but if 1 person walks through and he gets beat up you hear about it, you then form your opinion on the estate based on what you heard.
