It's only the way of the world if people let it be that way.

We just saw Beezos step down because he sees the writing on the wall-that businesses with non unionized workers in these right to work states isn't tenable in the future.

It starts with unions. All the workers at all these companies should unionize .We need idiots to stop whining about unions donating to candidates they don't like. The union serves a greater function-gives workers rights and bargaining power and helps keep wages high.

Then it comes down to us. Don't buy from Amazon. Don't buy from walmart. Use your money to express your dissatisfaction.

You never know what you will get unless you try.
I will say that I agree with you that a lot of CEO's are overpaid. Not all, but definitely some.

I personally am not dissatisfied and this isn't the hill for me to put my flag on. I'm highly skilled and highly paid and so long as Amazon offers me what I consider to be competitive deals in products I want I will continue to buy from them. Even if I was low skilled and low paid I would probably still buy from Amazon. I don't agree with their business practices but there are far worse forces in the world than Amazon. They aren't 'bad' enough to the point I would boycott them.

I lean towards the viewpoint that these minimum wage workers should try and upskill and better themselves....easier said than done I know but some can (and do) do it.

I personally don't think minimum $15 minimum across the board is a good idea. Like you said it's fine if I disagree with you. We've both shared our 2c.

Maybe if Dumm spent some time studying Economics and less time obsessing over me, he'd understand such things.

I will be overjoyed when all human beings worldwide can earn a living wage.

Regarding Amazon the Bezos move is mostly symbolic.

You talked before about how these old fashioned workers should upskill. I agree, I'm in favour of letting the market work itself out. Wanting these old dogs to upskill to get better jobs/wages doesn't really match your viewpoint of drastically increasing the minimum wage imo. I mean if minimum is raised they lose the incentive to upskill right?
With all due respect, you can’t just contradict the research done by giving your opinion.

Whatever mechanisms used to raise wages, the fact is raising wages did not have the affect 1idiot and others have suggested it would on reduced profit.

If you raise the wages by legislation, you force businesses to go through the same process that Costco did to find creative ways to maintain profitability.

That is healthy for a society and for the economy.

The only thing preventing profitability once the minimum wage is raised is want to. Costco was proactive and worker friendly and saw that more money in their workers pockets made more productive staff that had more disposable income.

Again it’s imagination and creativity. There is a way for everyone to get a little more if businesses make the effort.

No, being paid more doesn’t lower the desire to upskill. Often the more you pay workers, the more they are motivated because the increased money they have reduces some of the stress from financial problems.

This is why things will not change. You have enough and don’t particularly care if these workers don’t get paid enough.

I’m highly skilled and make great money as well. But I am concerned about people not being able to make enough on one job to support a family.

I’m just pro worker. Always have been and always will be.

It would also be one thing if profit and management pay had stayed stagnant like worker pay has. But every study shows record profit and huge increase in management pay as cost of living increases.

When do the workers get that as well?
