Marino had good stats, but the guy just wasnt a winner.
When I look at this question I think about starting a franchise or being in the superbowl and picking a qb.Those are not the guys I would pick.
If I'm picking for the best QB in that sense I want, The most reliable Most intelligent with the most athletic ability possible. This is an opinion that can very, but since I'd also be fantasy picking my other players I chose Peyton Manning. Troy Aikmen, Maybe Montana. Brady is up there, but still you couldn't convince me he's the best for even that situation.

An argument can be made for both Aikman and Bradshaw. I don't have either on my top 5 but if I really thought about it either one or both could make my top 10. There are many ways of evaluating nfl quarterbacks so for anyone to say theirs is the only way is beyond laughable. If you want to claim that Brady isn't one of the top 5 I disagree but I can accept your opinion. If you claim that he isn't even in the discussion for one of the top 10-15 of all time, then I laugh at you and pour the rightful scorn on your lack of sports knowledge. (and by definition, being one of the top 10-15 qb's ever = being one of the greatest qb's of all time).

That's not directed at you Peebs, but all those on this site who think they know it all, but really don't know jack...

He is not in the same league caliber wise as Marino, Montana, Young, Manning, Brady etc etc, but I digress the point of him not being one of the best ever, I was trying to claim that compariativly to some of the other quarterbacks who are top tier.
I believe Farve is severly overrated.
Thats my opinion, but I think Brett is top 10 all time (which in reality, makes him one of the best ever) but he has always been inconsistant and had severe problems with interceptions.

Marino is not a winner. He did every humanly thing possilbe to win his stats prove that. There are 10 other guys on the field when you gonna get that through your thick skull. Teams win superbowls. we are arguing best at one position.
            Right?
Quarterback is the most important position, and 99% of the time it relates to a team winning games/playoff games/ superbowls.

If a qb throws 45 td's in a season but wins 2 games, do you consider him a premire qb?
            I certianly would not.

Weather or not the postion is an important one or the most important one isn't what I'm talking about. You are having trouble with the concept of rating one person out of the 22 starters who take the field I guess. I'm not eliminating the QB I am singling out who would be the best man at that postions for the love of god get the point.

He has a cannon, a far better arm than Montana or Elway, who were never able to throw the ball 60+ yards.
Montana may not have had a cannon for an arm, but he had a much better "arm" than the he was allowed to demonstrate on a regular basis. He pretty much saved it for those few occasions in which he needed a "Hail Mary." The system in which he thrived - The West Coast Offense - did not lend itself to many 60-yard passes.
