    Shoulder Press Strength

I'm closing in on shoulder pressing my bodyweight (78kg) and am quite excited about holding the equivalent of myself overhead (LOL!)

Most people focus on benching instead of overhead pressing and it oftens gets overlooked. But I once saw a guy press 110kg for reps! It was damn impressive. I was wondering how much people here can press?

I'm not sure, never tried going lower than 5 reps with an overhead press. I usually do 5 reps with 55lb db's (110) and according to this online 1 rep calculator I supposedly can only overhead press 125 once. Pretty sure itd be more like 130-135 but thats kinda splittin hairs. Im 165.

Funny thing though, I can do handstand pushups like mad (last time I did them I did 17) but I can't do that with weights lol

I focus most of my energy to deadlifting (I just like pickin up heavy ****) and I can deadlift 375lbs @ 165lbs bodyweight.

I'm pressing 140lbs for reps (5x5) at the moment, so I'll be trying a 1-rep max soon I think.

Your deadlift weight is damn impressive. My PB is 320lbs.

Thanks, actually I just tried 375 today and nailed it, it went up pretty easy but I wouldnt be able to get 2 reps with that.

I may have you beat deadlifting but you got me beat overhead pressing, according to this 1 rep max calculator you should be able to do 158, these things are usually pretty close but I think theyre kinda conservative. According to it you should be doing 160 for 5 reps and you'll be able to hit your bodyweight. Keep it up...*goes off to the gym to overhead press feverishly*

Haha! I'm hitting the gym wednesday and I'll be deadlifting for sure. I've been concentrating on weighted pullups a lot lately, so hopefully they will have improved my deadlift!

            That's really impressive

            I'm 125, pressing overhead 115 for 5 sets of 5.

weighted pull ups are great, I've been doing them and when I tried without the weight for once I managed 35 pull ups in one go, that was pretty good - coming from me. chin up's I have recently started applying as well.

Damn that's good! I've been hanging 10kg from myself and doing sets of 10 recently. I'm going to deadlift on wednesday and see how these pullups have improved my strength.

              I'm quite excited LOL!

I no longer lift weights since I got the "size" I wanted. It's all cardio for me so running, rowing, bikes, pullups non weighted, sit ups etc.

I wasn't a huge shoulder press guy, I did a few 50kg at 5 reps which is 15kg under my own weight and considering I'm a boxer/long distance runner and badminton player I consider it an achievement. I could bench more than I weighed though.

Landon S your deadlift weight is impressive! Andrewcuff is there a reason your weightlifting like size or just to see how far you can get?

I started weighlifting a few years ago because I only weighed about 125lbs! Originally I just wanted to get a bit bigger but since then I've done Muay Thai and more recently started boxing, so now I lift to gain power/raw strength. I only tend to do overhead pressing, weighted pullups, weighted dips, squats, deadlifts, cleans etc now.

i usually do 4 sets of 10 of 135 on the military press.. i have never maxed out on them though i should try some time

like a year or two ago i started really focusing on my shoulders and all of a sudden they started getting stronger really fast.
