So I watched a UFC fight for the very first time.... Absolutely horrendous

I gave it a go. Not for me. I see why people like it but not me. I found myself just watching the stand up Boxing work and as soon as they went to ground i forwarded it till they got up again.

I've become more of a MMA fan than Boxing fan these past five years but I can admit, it wasn't easy getting into it. Before that, I too thought MMA was too brutal and also thought that the grappling and ground fighting was boring. But to be honest, boxing has had plenty of boring fights itself and the corruption that goes on in boxing, along with all the ducking that's still happening, had almost completely turned me off. That's the kind of stuff that continues to hold the sport back.

Meanwhile, MMA was making so much noise that me, as a combat sports fan, had to check it out again and the more I watched it, the more I started enjoying it.

One thing about MMA is that it's one of the most unpredictable sports in the world, way more so than boxing. People bring up how boxers only use one style with just their fists and they want to see the best in that. The thing with that is people usually can already tell who is the better fighter before they even fight...and most of the time, those people are right. If you know your fighters well enough, then it's not that hard to tell who they can or can't beat. But in MMA, fights are far less predictable. A fighter can look invisible for a long time and then lose it to the least likely person to beat them. That makes MMA much more exciting to watch. You just never know what happens with these fights.

Oh and for the people using Brock Lesner as an example that just anybody can walk in and win an MMA fight...no. First of all, Brock Lesner had an amateur wrestling background, so he's got legit wrestling skills that helped in his career. Second of all, it's no different from a boxer having a long amateur boxing career and winning a title in less than ten pro fights. They don't just throw them in there. They already had the skills to compete. So if you're a boxing fan, then you really can't talk.

If you guys think these is just bar room fights in a cage where anybody can come in, then you obviously don't know anything about this sport. It's the same thing as boxing, except it has more than just boxing.

Watch Amanda Nunes vs. Cyborg, Paige VanZant vs. Rose Namajunas, or Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm.

Then give your feedback about MMA.

UFC Cards>Boxing Cards most of the time

Sorry but UFC does a Better Job Promoting and Selling their Products and because fighters are not making crazy money like Boxers, they not only stay active but they take more RISK but also UFC give the fans the fights they want to see it is no Waiting or "Build Up" process. #1 is always fighting #2 and the Champions are always fighting the #1 Ranked Guys in their Divisions

Yes because there are multiple disciplines in MMA..... you have boxers, kick boxers, wrestlers, people who practice judo, Taekwando etc. It’s not comparable to boxing at all.

And there’s no politics so people don’t get to pick and choose what styles and opponents they want to face off against. People get found out real quick over there.

Holly Holm?? The women’s side is pretty bare bones in terms of talent..... very unlikely on the male side.

Still I can agree with the bold for the most part although I’ve seen many undeserving boxers carefully guided to titles as there are plenty to go round nowadays.... no such luck in UFC. You must fight the best to be champion.

I agree. But I'm sure you'd agree that one of the reasons for that is economics. They get paid peanuts compared to boxers.
