DAZN should've had AJ a week later to force two months subscriptions as I cant think of next big (PPV-level) fight on DAZN minus probably Canelo/GGG3 in September
I think DAZN wanted to put on both superstars in the same months subscription so they will retain subscribers. Not sure how many of Canelo subscribers would subscribe again for Joshua.

I don't get what he's saying that makes sense. He seems to be saying to me that the peak US numbers = the base sub numbers. Why is that the case? And what does that reallllllly mean if they cancel after their month is up?

What does base even mean when you got 1mo & 12mo deals? There is huge disparity with those options. You are gonna have huge turnover rates one can assume after a big fight with those being your options.

Now, other question, is he already factoring in the subscribers that have already canceled?
      How would he know that?

I call bs on his whole remark.

Either way, I just don't see how any of these numbers show they have surpassed the million mark.
Idk that anything says they did surpass the 1M mark. I just used the overall numbers worldwide to convert into a US potential number off of the US to worldwide peak number. Its a highly speculative guess on what could potentially be within the range of how many people had either a 1mo or 12mo sub to DAZN at the time of this fight.

Someone clearly wanted this leaked out for PR reasons as all the writers reported the same thing all at once. If they are leaking this, I think they would have leaked their subscriber base exceed a million, if that was the case. Either that or they are waiting for next month to see how many new subscribers they retained.
Who knows with sh^t like this.

I suspect DAZN knows they will have high turnover rates, or I guess its called churn in the business, after a big fight. I think thats the whole reason they added the $20/mo option & got rid of the free trial.

I didn't say it was free cable but it's not subscription and you can't compare ESPN to DAZN.

But if you did in a boxing sense, DAZN would win anyway.

Hardly worth subscribing for. Middleweight is a pap division. Just Canelo vs [Yawn] unless its 3G.

Well yea obviously, but its purely a guess to go from the bottom based on that 600k to a more reasonable number based upon how many didn't watch. Its the biggest thing DAZN has shown in the US so a high conversion rate is likely on the people who watched vs the people who sub to DAZN, but whats a reasonable conversion %? Idfk. And what would be a reasonable overall number based on that %? Idfk. So I don't see anything wrong with saying 600k is the bottom (for May 2019 anyway, cuz I guarantee you there is gonna be a huge churn rate after this month).

People pay for DAZN for different reasons not all are boxing or Canelo fans. Those other sports have subscribers to, and not everyone can be home to watch something they subscribe to live. A lot of people DVR shyt or watch things on demand on their time table rather then the TV guide says. If you a football fan but you have shyt to do so you DVR the game and then watch it later in the day because you know you have DVR. Well DAZN is a app where all events are accessible at your finger tips live and ondemand instantly. Its not cable where have to wait 24hrs or more days for it to show up on demand so I got to catch it live or it ain't available until monday. lol It's like Netflix once it's available live it's available for you to watch when a time is convenient to you. To think no subscriber watched this fight 1hr or the next day? Or that none of the other sports on DAZN has a single subscriber that didn't care about Canelo is just foolish.
Only the people thinking DAZN is a boxing app think this I'd bet.

Everyone who has spotify or netflix doesn't all watch at the same time no matter what the event or new content they add. So if it got this many subscribers to watch live they must be at 1M subscribers overall or damn close.
I think its a solid bet they were close to a mill subs, or reaching 1M, for May 2019 based on the numbers brought up.

The concern for DAZN is how many are subs in June 2019 & beyond.

I don't think 600k concurrent streams means 600k subscribers. It probably just means that a lot of people are sharing their password and the fight was watched on 600k different devices.

That is true, no reason to release the subscribers numbers since they will vary month to month in a bigger way than other networks.

I mean technically his source if it is with DAZN would know how many canceled already or not.

I call bs on what Pugmire is saying. That don't even make no sense. Why would the peak US numbers for the biggest event on DAZN US thus far say what the base sub rate is???

Its EXTREMELY likely that a good % of those 600k viewers are canceling at the end of the month & they just sub'd to DAZN for this fight & for 1 month. This is a whole new thing there isn't a "strong indication" of sh^t yet specifically off of what he's suggesting its off of. The fact there is a yearly option & a monthly option suggest "base numbers" are gonna wildly swing or at least have a good potential to wildly swing from month to month or more specifically with fights of this caliber popping up.
THIS anyone who has subscriptions to any app service knows that's not how it works. It's impossible that every subscriber accesses as the exact same time and I don't care what the event or program is. This is 2019 where we have all the content at our finger tips and can watch it whenever however we like. Netflix adds huge popular shows and not everyone watches that day many wait until it's convenient for them that could be days or a week later. Honestly DAZN doesn't even care if you watched Canelo live all they care is if you are subscribed you could watch it live or 1hr later the next day, hell the next week. They just care that you are subscribed. But no app get's 100% attendance and there are folks who subscribe to DAZN for other content they have then Canelo's fights.

They have to be at or close to 1M subscribers just off the fact that not 100% of their subscribers watched it live and they had 600K of them live. there is a percent of subscribers that have DAZN but didn't watch live. that's just common sense with how these subscription apps work. the real question is they did great this weekend but how many subscribers signed up for $99 for the year or just the $19.99 for this month. Even if you canceled you are still subscribed till the end of your month. They have to keep the ball rolling and build on this weekend. they have Joshua fight on June 1 and then GGG on June 8. those are their next big dates. Alot of new subscribers to be gained from Joshua fans and GGG fans.

Maybe you subscribed in december for the Fielding fight that was in NY and you are a boxing fan. But now Canelo fight is in vegas and you want to see that shyt live or at one of the closed circuits in vegas casinos. Canelo and boxing fans that already have DAZN but are in vegas is in the thousands alone. Not all could watch the fight live on the app. You got fight fans that like watching big fights in a group like me. If you went to your buddies house and you all have DAZN but want to watch it at a house party that's like 4 subscriptions but only 1 subscription is accessing the fight live.

So many haters screamed nobody is subscribed to DAZN we know that's false now so they going full re tard thinking if 600K watched live that is the exact 100% of all subscribers like NOBODY not a single person is subscribed but didn't watch it live or nobody subscribes to DAZN for other content they provide then just Canelo fights.

Fools game of thrones comes out on sunday at 9pm not everyone watches it exactly at 9pm. What if you got shyt to do but since it's on the app you know it's always there when you want there is no pressure like live tv where if you miss it you are phuked. Hell you could watch it at midnight, for breakfast the next day. That's what's great about these app it's there whenever you want.
Great assessment homie! You bring up all legit points and straight FACTS!

It said industry source. That doesn't necessarily mean it was a DAZN source even if its a good bet it was a DAZN source.

And idk that everyone would cancel within days of the fight. Lotsa people if not the majority of people would probably just play it out for a minute.

I mean they've surely seen the Joshua ads. Why not wait to watch the Joshua fight or check out some of the other fights before you make the call. Or just in general try to check out some other fights or watch the Jacobs fight again or the Fielding fight if they happened to have missed that.

And people are just lazy in general. I'd bet DAZN will have their fair share of cats who'll forgot about getting DAZN & call them up all mad on June w/e the hell to b^tch about being billed another month.
