    March 15, 2013:

Undefeated super middleweight king Andre Ward contacted FightHype.com to set the record straight regarding recent comments he made about a hypothetical clash between himself and undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Those comments were taken out of context by a number of websites, giving the impression that Ward was calling Mayweather out for a potential 160-pound showdown. According to Ward, however, that couldn't be further from the truth, and despite recent headlines, he has no problems with Mayweather. Check out what he had to say!

Andre Ward, Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion:

The last couple of days, Floyd made some comments about me that were false and that I disagree with. I responded the way I responded and that was pretty much the end of it. Yesterday, I answered a question/comment from a writer about the possibility of me and Floyd ever fighting despite our weight difference and size difference. I answered the question and said I would be willing to fight Floyd at 160 if that fight ever came about. My response was intercepted by certain websites. They took what I said and put it on their website with misleading headlines about me calling out Floyd Mayweather.

I've been in boxing a long time and rule number 1 is you don't call somebody out that's three weight classes lower than you. You also don't call somebody out who has a fight coming up, and I'm not in a position to call anybody out right now because I'm rehabbing my shoulder. I'm not a guy that says things for shock value or says things to get headlines. I respected what Floyd has done for the sport before he said what he said and I respect what Floyd has done for our sport after he said what he said. We had a difference and that's what it is. What I'm not going to allow to happen is this thing to escalate and there be some long-standing beef or problem between me and Floyd Mayweather when that's not the case, so it's done. I don't have no problems with Floyd Mayweather. It was squashed the other day. I answered the question and it got blown way out of proportion.

At the end of the day, this isn't about me. The fans shouldn't be focused on me and Floyd. They should be focused on Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero. They got a big fight coming up. It's a fight that's good for both fighters and it's a fight that's good for boxing. May the best man win.

I have linked kafkod to that proof about A DOZEN times, I have many of them bookmarked, including the link to a video where Ward admitted that.....

    1) he never pursued a Mayweather fight

    2) that fight is ridiculous, and will never happen

    3) the back-n-forth comments started over a silly twitter beef just prior to the Guerrero fight

    4) Ward cannot make 160

I wouldn't spend too much time on that subject if I was you..... this is an issue about honesty unfortunately.

Nobody can rewrite history, though many try. Ward was deadly serious when he challenged Floyd to fight him at 160. It's nothing to be ashamed of, why try do deny it?

Might be because the 30s, 40s, 50s era had little media attention unlike today that we have internet, forums etc, because most of them fought everyone and several times as well, or today's boxers are a bunch of sissies, they rarely fight and when they fight they just pick a ****ty opponent or washed up fighter.

Still not a great move from GGG management though to call someone that has retired from boxing, but even Froch did it with Calzaghe.

Currently because GGG can't even bribe a boxer to get in the ring with him, he's getting desperate searching for someone that makes sense, and found the perfect canidate although he's aging.

Looking at his tiny window of options right now, Froch would be the most credible name and biggest fight on his resume.

I'm glad that Ward came out and said his point of moving up was because GGG didn't want it. Overall, I think it didn't make sense for both fighters at any given time, but GGG's team hasn't done GGG any favors with all the trash talk and it appears they have been stretching the truth. A bunch of people have been coming out saying that GGG should fight Ward and it seems like Ward was actually trying to make the fight happen, but GGG and his team didn't want it. Only way this fight happens now is if Ward loses bad to Kov. With a win, there are a fresh batch of LHW he can go after that appeal to me more than a GGG fight (who everyone keeps saying is a small MW). I can't believe there are so many people thinking Ward ducked GGG to fight Kov. That makes no sense.
Fun Fact: Approximately one month after Ward witnessed the destruction of Lemieux, Ward's team announced that they can't make 168 anymore!

I'm really getting tired of Andre's racism. His Dad was white, maybe he should let it go.

That's a meaningless amd nonconsequential fact in my book. Ward just fought Kov. I have no reason to believe he is intimidated by GGG because he beat the great Lemieux.
