Though taking $500k is a bad business move, I don't know that he has many options. Without another name on the bill he's poison to the networks. He's got no other real prospects. And, getting too old to wait. Bad situation but he's just as much to blame as anyone.

I want to see him fight Frampton/Quigg winner next but will that happen next? Doubt it.

Rigondeaux is in a tough spot. He has to do something soon though.
A win over Donaire was way better for him and it actually did damage to his career. Bob Arum went on a crusade against him and then turned HBO against him. Gave him King Kong and the people from Rigo's camp advised Arum that Agbeko wasn't right for this fight but Arum wanted to blacklist Rigo. Agbeko known for throwing a lot of punches didn't have anything in him and Rigo is a small, old guy who is there to win.

So how is a win over an even more dangerous but less established LOma at a higher weight does a lot for Rigo? Fewer people will be actually willing to fight him and it's not a given he wins. Hell no, especially after Klimas is taking all the low offers for Kovalev but Loma with 5 fight will be making close to 1 mill against Rigo's 500. That's just none sense. Rigo is 35 I believe and his biggest opponent and best financial gain is Loma.

Nah man, Rigo is 35 and he's fighting Loma at a higher weight who is stil in his prime and has his whole career against him. You can't give Rigo 500 000 and give Loma close to 1 million. It's Arum's way of saying I am not risking Loma to Rigo even though based on their last fights Loma is the better fighter.

A guy with virtually no fan base and who generates no revenue is complaining about half a mil?

Same could be said about Loma and he'll be making double that so what gives?

I like Rigo but he is so safety first that it hurts his selling ability. When the crowd routinely boos during your fights, that's a giant red flag.

I don't blame Rigo for rejecting that offer. No way should he get 500,000 while Loma gets a million+

Is it safe to say that Lomochenko isn't a exciting fighter as well?

Arum and HBO have been trying to force feed us that Lomochenko is some megastar when in reality nobody knows who he is, he doesn't sell tickets and doesn't have a soul. He has fought nothing but Puerto Rican mechanics and Mexican tire installers on PPV and HBO since he beat the TBA King Gary Russell. Dude is nothing special either so how about both fighters get a even split in purses.

One is being groomed to be a star of the promoter's stable while the other is an opponent. If you are investing in loma's future then keeping him happy is important. They don't owe rigo anything and based in his last performances he's lucky to even be offered a big money fight. They could offer less money to a prospect and still get the same ratings and revenue. So, why would you pay rigo more?

He is special, problem is Bob Arum is so lazy these days I think he forgot how to promote and match make fighters.
