Kovalev got $500k for fighting Bernard Hopkins. Maybe Rigondeaux should take what he can get. A win over Loma would be big for him. Short term financial goals aren't always the best strategy.

500K too much for Rigo. No one would pay a cent to watch grass grow.

In my opinion his stock is at an all-time low. Networks don't want to air his fights, writers talk bad about him in every aeticle, and he hasn't fought a notable opponent in 4 years.

He's smart to avoid the fight though. Lomachenko is bigger and every bit as good.

Right, and it's not like Hopkins made a ton either he got $1 million even. Which, if you ask me, fighting a guy like Kovalev is worth a lot more than a million (in terms of what's at risk).

Rigondeaux is awesome, his talents are amazing. But he has numerous things against him - he's small. Small fighters typically don't get paid a lot of money. There are certainly exceptions, the Nonito Donaires of the world for example, but these are types of guys that usually are viewed as "exciting" and guys that have fanbases (whether it's a Filipino fanbase, or Mexican fanbase, etc). Rigondeaux has neither. The boxing world has already labeled him boring, whether or not that's fair doesn't matter; that's the perception. He's Cuban so there is no fanbase, other than the few diehards that just love watching him box. On top of that he has no network behind him willing to invest money in his career. This, unfortunately for Rigondeaux, means it's going to be extremely difficult to get big paydays. So if I'm Rigondeaux, I take the $500k and win, which can set up other big fights, especially in the UK market (Frampton/Quigg winner, etc). It's worth it imo.

Except that Rigo is more accomplished than Loma and Loma is equally boring and has a loss on his record.

Rigo outclassed Donaire for his belt who was top 5 PFP. Loma beat Russell.

Stop comparing Rigo to Kovalev and Bernard to Loma. You make yourself look silly.

Old video, but Rigo speaking the truth.

Rigo got $750K for beating a 10 year undefeated Donaire.

500K for Loma?? gtfoh. You can't blame Rigo for being smart and saying ''fck off HBO with them bltch offers.'' Arum or HBO need to wise up that such a promotional fight for 2 time Gold medalists facing off need a minimum 1million each.

                End of.

Rigo got more money to beat up a guy in Japan and yet he;s gonna move up in weight and fight the next most technical fighter in the world for 500 against Loma. I am glad you're not advising fighters.

Speaking of little fighters, Roman Gonzales is asking for 2 million to fight Estrada.

For all we know Loma might as well beat Rigo, they are two of my favourites but Arum will never risk it. Hence the low ball.

And if anybody should take less money it's Loma. He's got 5 fights 1 loss. Hasn't really had any exciting fights and his fanbase ain't as large either.

Besides Loma has a financial adviser that is notorious for taking low offers. Just look at Kovalev, he's getting ****d fight after fight but this I think has nothing to do with either one but with Arum.

Arum tried to get Rigo to lose against fighters from his stable and they are all done now.

He wants to make Walters vs Loma. He doesn't want Rigo.

                      I agree with this.
