Mixed opinion on this.

On one hand I don't like Catchweight Canelo and Catchweight Cotto doing what they do.

On the other hand I don't see GGG in any sort of position to be making demands.

This whole middleweight situation annoys me, and at this point it's entirely Golovkin's fault for allowing it to continue.

He says that he won't leave middleweight until he unifies all the belts, but he doesn't seem interested in doing that.

He could have forced Canelo/Cotto to fight him or vacate several times over the last couple of years, but keeps taking step-aside money in hopes of securing a big payday from one of them.

However, if he has no intention of making the Canelo fight at a catchweight, Canelo will just end up vacating, and his whole reason for delaying collecting that the belt (waiting for the big payday) will have been for nothing.

So essentially he's complaining about a situation that he has allowed to continue, and could stop at anytime, while benefiting from the step-aside money.

It's obvious that he's in no rush to unify and no rush to move up. He's happily collecting money for doing nothing while the division remains on hold, so the only ones who have anything to complain about are the fans.

Canelo just won the title. They gave him a good faith voluntary to grow into the weight, but if he insists on defending the lineal MW belt they'll strip him as they should

2. Dlh was a paper champ at MW, Canelo holds the lineal belt, hence rated #1 in most every ranking
3. 157 is much less bad than 155, lowest possible CW

That's a bit different. If GGg/Canelo fought but Canelo was stripped before the fight because of weight or not paying the sanctioning fees then I'm cool with it because if/when he wins he still beat the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy

But if it's just handed to him without facing Canelo and he fights another no name no hoper then it's BS. He hasn't beaten 1 decent name to get a belt. As a fan of GGG I'm more concerned with the names he fights then the belts he collects.

Name one decent name with a belt at 160 who agreed to fight him.

The only problem being that that very same fighter is demanding a catch from the guy up a division from him! Sounds like an embarrassing contradiction there doesn't it?

Nah, that title belongs to Ray Leonard who won the 175 light heavyweight (175) title at 168 when he demanded the LHW champ not be allowed to weigh in above the SMW limit but still had to put his LHW title up.

Imagine if Canelo said "You have to weigh in at the Jr middleweight limit, but your middleweight title is still on the line"

MISS 79% of their total punches each. MIGUEL COTTO & JAMES KIRKLAND were his last two opponents, they landed only 21% of their punches and when I compare those two guys to GGG ; GGG is not as aggressive and doesn't throw more punches then Kirkland and is slower. GGG doesn't have the foot work or foot speed of COTTO and is not as fast or slick.

Canelo hasn't fought anybody close to who GGG fought. Best win is Cotto, laughable, Rosado would beat him, Lemieux would knock him out, Murray would manhandle him. Canelo has no real MW standing at all. It's why he's scared of Gennady Golovkin.

Canelo has beaten Lara and Trout and Cotto and Kirkland. Lost to the best in Floyd. Canelo has faced the best. Canelo fights at 154lbs. GGG fights at 160lbs. Little difference there of 5 lbs. split the difference then at 157lbs if games are to be played at Catch weight. But 160 means 160lbs to Boxing Lore. Fight at 160 or relinquish than middle belt Canelo. No mexican games here no illegal entry to 160lbs just a legitimate visa to 160lbs and no night crossing or swimming in to the middle title as with Cotto. Green card all the way to stay.
