It's a one off fight there is no reason to bring showtime in. They had a good relationship with HBO to and I don't see them trying to include HBO in their other deals. They could just do this fight on HBO and then win or lose go back to showtime or PBC

To me that says They never really wanted to fight or just didn't like the deal
So please explain to me what would be the benefit of Stevenson agreeing to fight on HBO, he's not the one with the exclusive contract. Kovalev should take the lost of 55-45 or 60-40. Why should Stevenson take the lost he's doesn't have an exclusive contract to fight on 1 network.

This is a business, why won't HBO agree to a both networks showing the fight.

What a load of shit. You'd think these two were superstars with how hard it is to get them in the ring together.

Stevenson's stock has declined considerably once he left HBO, his last three fights were against fairly unknown opponents (Karpency, Bika, and Sukhotsky). While Kovalev has fought B-hop, Pascal, a mandatory against Mhammedi and Pascal rematch this Sat. The only reason why Stevenson is still mentioned is because of that WBC title, Kovalev/Ward is now the fight that pretty much everyone demands. Stevenson/Kovalev should have been made two years ago, it is not the type of fight that can marinate.

Hopkins went to HBO to fight Kovalev bc he needed to either unify (with Kovalev or Stevenson), fight a mando (against Mohammedi) or drop his belt. They were negotiating a unification with Stevenson on Showtime but Stevenson's side dragged out the negotiations so that Hopkins would have to drop the IBF belt and another Haymon guy (Thomas Williams) could fight Mohammedi for the vacant belt. Hopkins signed a contract to fight Kovalev on the last possible day before vacating meaning Kovalev had to sign a contract even with a fight upcoming.

Kovalev fought everyone, Stevenson fought nobody and he was acting like a little monkey on crack when he met Kovalev. He shat his pants and knows he would get knocked silly if he ever faces the Krusher.

They said themself they got a very fair offer, so why even try to make a counteroffer? Why not take it and give the fight to the fans?

Since Stevenson left HBO he became one of the most hated, most irrelevant duckers in the sport.

Hopkins wanted the fight and Haymon intentionally stalled the negotiations to the point Hopkins would have been stripped and some no name in Haymons stable would have picked up the title... So Hopkins, being the stud he is, went to HBO to fight the guy Stevenson left HBO to avoid....

Here's the thing that I find funny is that Stevenson's people want to do a joint pay per view but in what world is Stevenson or Kovalev a pay per view star?

Both guys don't have that type of following right now. Both guys aren't main stream at all. The fact that HBO was willing to do a pay per view for these guys is truly amazing.

Stevenson is a fool for not taking that. I'm sorry but both guys would have been guaranteed 2 million plus a pay per view percentage I bet.

Again Stevenson has taken a major hit to his popularity while Kovalev's is growing by fight.

Because Showtime/CBS stepped up and made the financial commitment to Stevenson, has been the home to three of Stevenson's last four fights, and will likely be the home to Stevenson's next two fights (Stevenson-Alvarez and Stevenson-Fonfara 2 are both 80/20 PPV fights in Canada for Stevenson, with Showtime having the US rights).

Only difference is that GYM/Stevenson weren't willing to kill the fight over the insistence that Showtime be involved; you even mention some other TV partner possibly coming aboard and Main Events throws a ***** fit.

                      So near yet so far.

                      Duva made Michel an offer.

Michel says it was a very fair offer.

But he won't accept it unless Showtime gets a slice too.

                      Why?
