Why are so many pure boxers or former boxers picking Byrd over Wlad?

The heavyweight division sucks balls.
You and I both know that would be horrible for the future of the division if Byrd actually beat Wlad.
Because then he would just sit on his titles recieving gift decisions over virtually everyone else.
At least Wlad's cool to watch because you're almost guranteed a damn knockout. Either he bites the dust, or he stifles someone with hard combinations.

what i cant understand is if the public finds byrd boring..i dont but just say
if the public does
and he dosnt get along with don king and don king dont like him...
where are all the gifts comming from i mean what are they doing having a meeting and saying
"you know folks what we need...open your mind reaaaal wide now and think ...what would do this company good... a short boring former middleweight that has zero power!!!! thats it ...if i ever thought of a way to lose money this is it!!!"
i mean i love byrd to death...i love all the byrds as they are flint
but from a marketing and only! a marketing stance i cant see if these are gifts what the point is of giving him gifts

i'm going to state my neutral, fair opinion on this. black fighters almost always root for the black fighter in a "white" vs "black" contest. i hate to even think of people being even slightly racist, but that is the way it is. remember roy jones jr saying wladimir klitschko better avoid him? LOL!!! lewis has been on record as picking every fighter against the k bros. and mayweather i bet thinks along those lines also - hoping wladimir loses. why, racism seems to be the legit answer.
like i mentioned in an earlier post, lewis has stated that he'd be embarressed if he lost to a "white" heavyweight. why? racism. that alone should make people question his moral values, aside from being a pompous prick.
really, there is no reason to hate either of the klitschko's. they both respect thier opponents, make exciting fights, and aren't dumbass wannabe thugs with a 15 deep possey actin' like they're ****ing. they don't discredit opponents, diss 'em when they lose, or show up out of shape for fights.
as far as racism in boxing, there of course are exceptions. kostya tszyu and emanuel augustus are great friends. tyson even had vitali show him around ukraine and had nothing but high praise of him.
i had even read recently of toney talking **** about europeans in general. i'd like to see him fight a klitschko. i'd give toney a bit of props if he is even able to open his mouth after fighting one of them.
bottom line, though as sick as it is, is that there is racism in boxing. i only had mentioned a few instances, mainly regarding the heavyweights. but there is a lot more than just what i have stated. and personally, i find that rooting for a fighter based on skin tone or nationality alone is extremely shallow and represents the state of that person's mental ability and progress.

Originally posted by Asian SensationThis is simply a case of some people with alterior motives who dislike the Klitschko's. Honestly, there is no real justification for picking Chris Byrd to win, particularly given the outcome of their initial confrontation. Lennox Lewis has always been anti-Klitschko, given that Wladimir was once considered the successor to Lennox Lewis' throne. In the past, he has made remarks like "Wladimir Klitschko is Michael Grant with an accent", and the such. I don't think Chris Byrd has a chance in hell, and his father will stop the bout after the 9th round to avoide further punishment to the Flint, Michigan native.
After the Floyd Judah fight, didnt Lennox say that he thought Wladimir was a great boxer?? Anyway, I think it might be hatred, or race. I would be hard pressed to find anyone who can make A STRONG argument for why Byrd would win. I know Roy Jones was always anti Klitschko, you shouldve heard Roys argument for why Toney would beat Vitali. It was very weak.Last edited by Derranged; 04-17-2006, 01:13 PM.
